How did all the American flags become available in such a short time? In front of the White House ( students from G.W.U. are not known as patriotic as Texas A&M students) Also in Times Sq !
My guess is it started out as a flash mob, alerted by cell phone/text/twitter/facebook, because I’ve seen a lot of reports from miscellaneous websites that there were Obama signs brought ::rolls eyes:: BEFORE ANY ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE, and those brand new flags...sure, maybe those NYU students at Ground Zero and those at the WH were ‘spontaneous’, with all the un-transparency from the current regime? I have questions.
Eventually as the news spread regular folks joined the crowds, like the ones that formed when V-E Day was announced after WWII...probably the most touching scene I saw last night was when the New York Fire Department officers climbed the traffic light pole (initially it looked like they were chasing folks down) but then they helped unfurl flags too and the crowd began saying the Pledge of Allegiance...just saw that scene was put on Youtube, and Fox just showed a snippet of it, that may be the iconic image to come out of this historic event.
Yes, it’s great news that OBL is dead; should’ve burned him in public IMO but I can see how Muslims would react to that (angry remembering those poor American people murdered and hung from bridges and dragged through streets of foreign countries after they were killed >:-( Some of those ‘spontaneous’ mobs turned into free campaign publicity for Obama, the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is calling for America to get out of Afghanistan immediately, OBL’s compound was within 100 yds of a major military/police training center in Pakistan (?!)...did the world just become a SAFER place for my little children because of OBL’s death? Or a MORE DANGEROUS one? :-(
