My guess is that they just DISCOVERED HE’S DEAD.
He has been dead for years, but they will pretend
he just died, as if by some magical vibe emanating from
the Obama WH.
Just now they said he was killed ONE WEEK AGO by a US bomb......
they matched DNA in this intervening week.
Obama will of course make hay out of this.

I am as cynical as you are, nothing against our troops, IMHO you are probably right, he has been dead for eons and now they need to take credit for it, the timing smells post the whole Trump/BC incident(s)....
