To fight conservative efforts, Democrats form fund groups
The Philadelphia Inquirer / The Los Angeles Times ^ | April 30, 2011 | Matea Gold

Two former White House aides launched a pair of independent groups Friday to defend President Obama and fight the array of conservative efforts that poured money into the last elections, adopting the same tactics condemned by Obama.

The move by Bill Burton, a former Obama deputy press secretary, and Sean Sweeney, who was a top aide to former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, confirmed the sharp reversal by Democrats on the use of undisclosed political spending.

Burton and Sweeney said they were moved to create the outside groups to fend off conservatives such as the billionaire Koch brothers and American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS, independent groups cofounded by Karl Rove, former political adviser to President George W. Bush.

Veteran Democratic strategist Paul Begala will be a senior adviser to the Democratic efforts. Initial donors include the Service Employees International Union and Dreamworks Animation chief executive Jeffrey Katzenberg.

One of the new groups, Priorities USA, has been formed as a 501(c)(4) - a nonprofit social-welfare group that can raise unlimited money without disclosing its donors' identity. It is putatively designed to focus on issues - in this case, "to preserve, protect, and promote_the middle-class" - but can spend up to half its money on political activities. The use of such anonymous money in elections was vehemently criticized by Obama last year, as well as by Burton.

In a statement Friday, Burton said the Supreme Court's 2010 ruling in Citizens United v. FEC, which opened the door to unlimited corporate and union political spending, created a new playing field on which Democrats have to engage. "While we agree that fundamental campaign-finance reforms are needed, Karl Rove and the Koch brothers cannot live by one set of rules as our values and our candidates are overrun with their hundreds of millions of dollars,"

The DNC’s lineup:

1. Race.
2. Media control.
3. Campaign finance reform.
4. Republicans dissatisfied with current field of GOP candidates.
5. Republicans not excited about current GOP candidates.
6. Tea Party support drops weekly stories.

“Burton and Sweeney said they were moved to create the outside groups to fend off conservatives such as the billionaire Koch brothers...”

Meanwhile, Burton and Sweeney had their lips pressed firmly to the butt cheeks of George Soros with their hands in each other’s crotch.

4. Republicans dissatisfied with current field of GOP candidates.

And that's a righteous and valid part of the lineup against the GOP.

Root-cause-analysis leads us to GOP country club, go-along-to-get-along leadership and lame-stream media for that debacle.

Regardless, Romney won't get my vote.

GOP might want to purchase a clue.

Well, ok. That's going to leave an ugly visual in my head. I hope I can sleep tonight.

I HATE Romeny.

If he is the GOP candidate I’ll be handing out Mitt’s the one flyers!

If Hillary wins the GOP nomination I become one of her ardent campaign workers.

You and I have already waived any and all claims of integrity and principle by funding abortions.

Go for it. If Romney gets the nod, I'm voting for the libertarian party or Constitution party, or write in a conservative.

I WON'T vote for Romney. I didn't ever vote for GB II. Primary or election. I won't vote against my principles. Ever.

Anyone that doesn't like that can KMA.

You, maybe. I won't compromise any more. Ever. Since 1989. Local election, ugly.

I can be redeemed by doing right and turning away from wrong.

And since the abortion money was taken from me by force, it was under duress. I didn't pay taxes because I thought giving Congress my money was a good idea.

You, like the libs, don't have context and make judgements on things you are ignorant of.

I paid when I had children the state could screw with.

Now that my kids are grown and gone, yepper, I'm in Galt Gultch. No hostages. And I've actually read the book.

You are welcome to come here and play.

Anyone that says he is forced to support a system he opposes while claiming to have gone Galt , is a fraud.

You are that fraud.

The move by Bill Burton, a former Obama deputy press secretary, and Sean Sweeney, who was a top aide to former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, confirmed the sharp reversal by Democrats on the use of undisclosed political spending.
So, when was their previous sharp reversal? Y'know, the one where they'd stopped doing this? Must have been earlier that same day.

HAD supported. Do not currently support. In previous episodes I had not yet gone Galt, but now I have. As I said, you walked into the movie late.

But I'm just an alleged fraud. Not an idiot. You qualify on the not-being-able-to-read and jumping to conclusions requirements for the latter.
