Allen, Radtke court Tea Party vote
The Washington Examiner ^

Radtke and other Tea Party activists have been hammering Allen from the right, pointing out that the national debt rose by $3 trillion during Allen's single term in the U.S. Senate and that he voted multiple times to increase the limit on how much the government can borrow to pay its bills.

"It's a moderate form of conservatism, and we don't like that," said Kurt Feigel, president of the Lynchburg Tea Party and a Radtke supporter. "He's got to overcome that, and I don't know how he's going to do it."

Allen also voted to force us to use ethanol in our automobiles, and if we want to prevent a Texas like scenario where the RINOs voted for the redistricting efforts to help RINOs and libs at the cost of regular Americans, we need to support the Tea Party candidate over establishment RINOs.

Allen also believes that a person is not involved in the first trimester of a pregnancy and that the burden of proof that the fetus is a baby is on us by using brainwave detecting machines.

“Allen also believes that a person is not involved in the first trimester of a pregnancy”

Very hard to understand how anyone believes this. A couple of months ago I was present for my first grand-baby’s ultrasound at not quite the 11-week point. I said “Hi baby - God loves you - I love you” and he started jumping up and down and waving his arms. Not a person?

U.S. Senators have absolutely nothing to do with state redistricting. They don’t even indirectly care, because they are elected statewide, not in districts.

Obviously that is not my point. You've taken it literally. I gave it as an example of RINOs fighting for liberals. It will happen at every level if we do not support the Tea Party. That is my point.

George Allen is a Hard-Core Conservative

Conservative union gives Allen 100% in 2005, 96% in 2006

Human Events: Allen one of the top 10 outstanding conservative senators in 2005

LifeNews: Virginia a Pro-Life Battlefield:

George Allen, however, has an outstanding pro-life record, earning a 100% rating from the National Right to Life Committee during his six years in the US Senate. Conversely, Allen earned a 0% rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America. Notably, as a US Senator, Allen voted for the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, to ban embryonic stem cell research and to affirm the pro-life Mexico City Policy, which prevented taxpayer funding of abortion abroad.

There were a lot of highly-rated pro-life politicians who supported embryonic stem cell research. George Allen opposed it.

Jaime Radtke, on the other hand, has a 0% pro-life voting record. Because she's never held office, and never had to take a vote so we could see what she would vote for or against.

On pro-life, we have a solid record of support with George Allen. I find the attacks on his pro-life position to be one of the more misleading of the many misleading arguments made.

More on George Allen’s long career of pro-life actions:

NARAL placed Allen on its “Worst Choice List.” While in office, Allen vetoed a bill to protect women and doctors from anti-choice attacks and intimidation at reproductive health clinics. While in the U.S. House of Representatives, he voted to ban privately-funded abortions for U.S. military servicewomen. As governor, he issued an executive order prohibiting abortion coverage in state employees’ health insurance

All I care is that George Allen triangulated his position on abortion and voted for ethanol in my fuel tank. Americans are smart enough to make our own opinions and do not go by certifications from politically connected groups. Even one strike is bad enough for me. He has several. He voted to raise the debt ceiling, he voted for ethanol (presumably to prevent Global Warming from kicking in and melting the polar ice caps which would then drown the polar bears) and his position on abortion is wishy-washy. He is also a supporter of Arlen Specter.

Quote from

Allen Supports Stem Cell Research (Jul 24, 2001)

Sen. George Allen announced Monday that he supports allowing federal funding of embryonic stem cell research "provided that there are strict, enforceable and ethical guidelines."

He likely voted for ethanol because he was thinking about running for President, and ethanol is popular with farmers because it gives them a bigger market for their corn.

He voted against it, when others voted for it.

Bush was pushing a position that supported federal research but only on the existing lines, so even Bush could be labelled “pro-research” if you wanted to twist things that much.

Given that Allen’s votes were correct on these issues, I’d find it more interesting to see what his current positions are on these issues.

I gave up on Bush when he ganged up with Klintoon on the Bush-Klintoon Katrina fund. Then they made money out of the Haiti earthquake. They sure know how to use disasters to make money for themselves. Bush is a centrist with leftist family members.
