A relative and friend of Bobby Gadsden, the 21-year-old who was shot dead by a Moncks Corner homeowner while burglarizing the mans house, say police have been misleading about the case and that they are asking federal authorities to investigate.
Police two weeks ago decided that the April 13 shooting was justifiable. Two alleged accomplices in the burglary were arrested.
This morning Gadsdens uncle Tyler Williams and family advocate Zoe Spencer laid out a list of what they said are inconsistencies that throw the police account of the shooting into question. Chiefly, they cite previously unreleased crime scene photos that appear to show Gadsdens body outside of the home, and they said it was a complete fabrication that a long gun was found by Gadsdens body.
Moncks Corner Police Lt. Wendell Bowen said thats incorrect.
I can tell you that a long gun was found at the scene, and that Mr. Gadsdens body was found by the rear door, he said this morning.
Police initially reported that Gadsden was shot after the homeowner saw him coming down the stairs carrying a long gun. Williams said that if that were true, then he would agree the shooting was justifiable.
He was shot on the porch. He was fleeing for his life, Williams said. Is that really self-defense? Are you really defending property?
Bowen said the confrontation took place in the kitchen as Gadsden jumped from a rear staircase in the house over a dog gate at the foot of the stairs.
Williams said the police change the story each time they are confronted with conflicting information.
Opinions about the controversial shooting often involving racial overtones and strong opinions about the right to bear arms have played out in social media pages and online comments to news articles.

Looks like they are laying the ground work for the race card to be played.
They need to get Holder in on this thing. Looks like it was one of “his people”.
Watch for a federal civil rights suit on this.
You burgle my house, expect to die.
If you believe turning your back will save you, you’re dead wrong.
If he was shot outside of the house here in Merryland the homeowner would be going to jail.
That should be the presumption for all potential burglars.
Expect to die.
The homeowner should receive the benefit of any doubt which arises.
No one wants to be shot in the back, but if the burglar puts himself in that situation, his family should not be surprised when it happens.
There is simply no excuse for a criminal invasion of someone's home...
Wouldn’t the autopsy reveal whether the guy was shot in the back? If not, I don’t see a problem. Black or white, if you break into someone’s house, you’re responsible for what you get, even if you are only armed with a knife.
Breaking into the house of a homeowner with a gun should and ought to be as hazardous to your health as wrestling with a grizzly bear over a roll of salami.
Darn nice of the criminal to stagger outside and bleed-out on the porch.
I WANT ONE!
Uhm.........He was robbing someones house! Don’t people have any shame? Take it mamma’s, teach the children that bad things happen to bad people.
I’d like a version of that sign in metal, without the bullet holes. That way I can make my own bullet holes at the range to add an extra kick of reality about what will happen.

That’s why you drag the body back inside the house and hose down the porch or run the lawn sprinklers.
In Texas. I can shoot them from across the street if they robbed my neighbor’s house!
If I had seen those Obama voters in my house, I’d have killed them both.
Yep, the burglar was just collecting the reparations they forgot to pay.
People do manage to move a distance after being shot, and they can and do turn just prior to get shot, thus a backshot is not necessarily indicative of them fleeing.
The homeowner should be given a medal/marksmanship award. He cleared a bunch of outstanding burglaries, punished ones that the burglar was not successfully prosecuted for, prevented future burglaries, and stopped this Alpha Hotel’s particular bloodline from expanding further.
It’s a good thing and a good shoot. Next.
Ramsey looks like he just smoked a fat doob to his head.
“If you believe turning your back will save you, youre dead wrong.”
Homeowner, “I closed my eyes and fired. He musta turned while my eyes were closed. I am afraid of guns, don’t you know!”
