Didn’t the caller (who sounded very well read, and I have no argument with him) just refer to the part talking about children born outside of the US, as that was the reason they were writing the resolution about MCCain? I was feeding a baby and trying to listen, but perhaps I am wrong.

I just do not see that SCOTUS would rule that a child born to an American on US soil was not a natural born citizen. If the case ever is heard and I am wrong, then I will be happy to apologize.

Because we may think we are certain of the outcome doesn't mean we give up the fight. Either we believe in the rule of law or we think it is a shifting sea of sand. Even if it is not clear we should still seek some sort of clarification. It doesn't distract with everything else. Those fights are still going strong.
