I think “grooming” in this case is an euphemism for preparing them for the sex trade. In reality, it is no different than sexual abuse except it includes mental abuse as well.

Charlene Downes disappearence isn’t much of a mystery. She was murdered and her body chopped up and served as kebab meat in one of these takeaways. The evidence for this was extremely compelling, but was inadmissable for technical reasons, so the accused, Iyad Albattikhi and Mohammed Raveshi had to be freed (they were also given hundred of thousands of pounds in compensation for the time they had spent on remand)...
