The Obama doctrine: Leading from behind
Washington Post ^ | April 28 | Charles Krauthammer

Posted on 04/29/2011 5:59:28 AM PDT by safetysign

To be precise, leading from behind is a style, not a doctrine. Doctrines involve ideas, but since there are no discernible ones that make sense of Obama foreign policy — Lizza’s painstaking two-year chronicle shows it to be as ad hoc, erratic and confused as it appears — this will have to do..................

Leading from behind is not leading. It is abdicating. It is also an oxymoron. Yet a sympathetic journalist, channeling an Obama adviser, elevates it to a doctrine. The president is no doubt flattered. The rest of us are merely stunned.

OB is like the last dog on a sled team. Both the view and the smell are pretty bad.

And mortgaging the future by not spending enough.

Bubba rewrote the meaning of ‘is’, this clown is rewriting the meaning of our entire language.

It is unmuddled, piercing commentary like this that keeps Charles in the hearts and minds of conservatives, in spite of his occasional lapses.

Krauthammer pulls his head out of his rear sighting! Every now and then he comes up for fresh air.

Nice column Dr. K, but it's missing the only thing I really want you to say on the subject of Obama. Where's the apology for all the inane complimentary things you've said about the President going back to 2007? When are you finally going to admit that Obama says and does stupid things because he's a stupid man who has no business sweeping streets in the vicinity of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, let alone sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office. You were deluded on the subject of his abilities and it's way past time to admit it. Confession is good for the soul. It also promotes clarity of thought. Unburden yourself Doctor. Until you do, it's hard to take you seriously.

I think the O is just trying to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize after the fact. He knows those Nobel idiots were full of baloney.

Krauthammer has it wrong. He is assuming Obama is one of ours. He is doing a magnificent job for those he is fighting for.

What is happening overseas is the destruction of American interests, and Obama is leading the charge. At home and in the ongoing destruction of America, Obama is also leading from the front.

Obama is looking like George Patton - but riding with his tanks on the side of America's enemies...

The Obama doctrine: Leading from behind

Is there any connection between Obama doctrine and the push to accept homosexuals in the military?

I mean as commander in chief this brings new meaning to the doctrine.

Homos in the military don't have anything to do with foreign policy doctrines or schools. It really has more to do with domestic policy.

As for repeal of DADT, the US military accepted that because they wanted to preempt a expected court ruling. If you know you are going to lose, you get out in front of it so as to shape it.

Do you recall who negotiated DADT on behalf of the military? Colin Powell.

No. I meant conservative. Charles frequently nails it with piercing conservative commentary. Occasionally, however, he becomes a victim of his own hubris and writes the dumbest, most left wing screed imaginable. Some people are just not consistent, I suppose.
