Nice way to express that. The native Hawaiian singer IZ with his ukulele in hand! IZ (Israel Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole) was an advocate of Hawaiian independence, the restoration of Hawaiian royalty.
His music lives on forever. It is a music -- his voice singing simple tunes -- clearly full of soul and love. Of joy and sadness intertwined. Life!
Yet, IZ himself died of morbid obesity. He was huge. Six foot two and over 750 pounds at his biggest. He died young, at 38. Obasity is a problem among native Hawaiians, especially in the welfare state era.
