Now that the big day is over, just a few comments:

The wedding—dare I say, BORING? Same church, same carriages, same horses, same routine, etc. Can’t think of any spontaneous gestures or memorable moments. Maybe it’s because they have already lived together for 8 years and are just going through the motions and pretending that they are starting their life together. Also, it was too staged and robotic. Every movement was planned out ahead of time. When everyone is afraid of putting a wrong foot forward it makes for dull TV.

The bride—She’s ordinary. She doesn’t have Diana’s charisma or sparkle. Go to any college campus in America and you will find 100 girls like Kate. Seriously, does this girl deserve all of this attention?

The dress— Although it’s a beautiful dress, it’s Grace Kelly’s dress. Been there, done that. I was disappointed. I find it odd that this “modern fashion icon” chose another woman’s dress from 50 years ago! I was hoping that she would have chosen something from THIS century, not last.

The tiara—Of all of the queen’s tiaras from her vast collection I can’t believe she gave her this chintzy one. Small diamonds, no sparkle. Barely there. The earrings took all of the attention. She should have worn studs so that they wouldn’t clash with the tiara. And someone needs to tell Kate she needs a grown-up hairstyle—you’re not a school girl anymore. She should have worn her hair up for such a regal occasion, especially with a dress with a high collar.

William—I’m not crazy about a man that wears TOMATO red. Blue is his color, like his mother’s.

The kiss—No passion. It was so dull that the crowd asked for another. And that one was dull, too! Now I know royals are supposed to be stiff and emotionless, but give me a break. Most people would understand if you showed some feeling when you kissed on your wedding day.

The music—Awful. Charles and Diana’s music was fabulous. Diana’s walk down the aisle was dramatic because of the music. Kate’s music for walking down the aisle was just WRONG! It sounded like a movie soundtrack. The little boys’ vocals were irritating and distracted from the bride. And all of the other hymns were forgettable.

Prince Edward—Why was he wearing a military uniform? IIRC he abruptly quit shortly after joining to take up a career in the theatre.

I enjoyed watching it for the most part, but yes things like this can get boring, especially when you cannot understand a word of any of the choir songs but I DID expect more Oomph/shine to her hairdo, did not like the cheap-looking clingy veil, thought she needed more embellishment, like a higher tiara, and where were the flowers??? There was hardly any color and I don’t like that the maid of honor also wore white. Kate’s face and eyes were made up too heavily because I think she’s far prettier and younger looking without that much. She looked so much better for the reception imo. Aside from the superficial stuff they did seem to have much genuine affection for each other:)

Spoken like a true American.

Now remember, these are Brits who revel in their history (as Americans watch ignorant progressives dismantle our history).

Everything on the royal wedding day was a touchstone to history.

William wore red as a tribute to the Irish Coldstream Guards at the palace gate who guard the Royal Family.

The handmade lace in Kate's gown was also commemorative of the realm---with several national symbols of countries in the kingdom woven into the pattern.

Kate wore her hair down b/c this is basic for a bride----you want the groom to see you as he has always seen you---not as a different person with a different hairdo. Any bridal consultant will tell you that.

Kate's whole look was played down b/c she is a commoner. Having no royal lineage, she could hardly go out there looking like a princess.

It is doubtful that she said, "I want to look like Grace Kelly on my wedding day." The collaboration with the designer ended up with a dress she was comfortable in...... that happened to resemble Grace Kelly's----a nice tribute to Americans that Brits like the look of American royalty.

And with several billion people watching---it had to be planned down to the nanosecond.

As for the kiss---you been watching too many soaps. Royal dictates require no public show of affection---the balcony kiss was first done by Charles and Diana---and now Brits expect a little something between the couple---certainly not red hot passion.
