Aerial Video Footage Of Detroit: “Today, from the air, parts of Detroit look like a war zone”
Motor Times ^ | April 28, 2010 - 1 yr. ago | Chris Hansen

Chris Hansen traveled to Detroit, Michigan for a Dateline special that aired tonight on the state of what is probably America’s most desolate city. And in aerial footage—devastation porn at its best—Detroit’s grim plight was revealed. Video inside.

“Today, from the air, parts of Detroit look like a war zone,” Hansen said in a voiceover near the beginning of the special, before he listed some of the most shocking facts about the city’s current state—the population is less than half of what it was decades ago; there are 400 liquor stores there, but only eight supermarkets—all while panning shots of the consequences of its deterioration flashed on the screen.

However, they really don’t mention that most of Detroit’s problems are a direct result of a continuous (Detroit: Murder City (Again) 50 year regimen of liberal Democrat policies. Even worse is the fact that Detroit’s current leadership ( is really not interested in changing direction.)

This is the Democratic Waste Land, the L.B.J. nightmare and one that Obama and his Unions can't get beyond.

Obama is not one of us; he is not American.

you can see it every time you’re in a holding pattern over DTW. Or whenever 8 Mile turns up on basic cable.

Kids in Baghdad are much safer than kids in Detroit or Chicago. Those Democrat voters ought to be very ashamed of the desolation they have wrought after billions of taxpayer dollars have been wasted on these money pits.

I don’t need to see Detroit from the air.

I grew up in the 70’s near the South Bronx and worked in the late 80’s in East St Louis.

Been there, Done That.

Having recently visited Detroit, I can say it should be a symbol of uninterrupted liberal management.

I love Detroit...I hit the city probably a half dozen times a year for plays, concerts and ballgames. Downtown Detroit is pretty safe. I wouldn’t go intot he neighborhoods to save a life, but I have no business being there any way.

Detroit could and should be a much nicer place... Cleveland and Chicago are large midwestern cities that are much more alive...but it won’t be. It won’t be until the people that live there wake the f**k up and stop electing the same corrupt families to run the place. There was money to made there honestly or even semi honestly, but the “pay to play” mentality was and is so pervasive that legitimate business don’t want to invest in the city. The barriers are to high...

There needs to be a commemorative monument beneath every “Welcome to Detroit” sign. This is what 50 years of democrat rule looks like.

It is a war zone.

The army of Taxtakers vs the besieged Taxpayers.

The Taxtakers have won. They reign in a land plundered and broken.

This reminds me of an old quote from Spiro Agnew. He was visiting some city, and some black activists wanted to take him to the ghetto to learn about the bad conditions there. And Agnew said something along the lines of “you’ve seen one slum, you’ve seen them all”. And his comments generated outrage among the liberals of the day. But I think we all know what you mean. Anyone who has been in any bad neighborhood anywhere has a good idea of what Detroit is like today.
