not to mention the idea that she was probably pregnant at 17. That is my guess as to what he was hiding all these years- something that embarrassed his mother, and he had lied about to supposedly protect her.

Simply not true. The fact that she was pregnant before marriage was always well known as was her birthdate. Heck, Obama even boasted about it at times. Go to Wikipedia (yes even in the entires before this morning). Her marriage date was ALWAYS listed as well under nine months before Obama's birth.

The Wiki entry on his mother is kind of interesting.

She gets pregnant by a black man at age 17, they get married, and then after the baby is born, she goes to Seattle, and he goes to Harvard.

Oddly, there doesn't seem to be pictures of all three of them together.

I'm not saying any of it is false, but it's very strange. And there could be more to the story than has been revealed.
