One can always find their fair share of Patriotism at a NASCAR event but when Rodney Atkins takes the stage in Richmond, it will be at an all-time high. Continuing his ongoing partnership with Crown Royal to salute those who proudly serve, country music artist Rodney Atkins will honor military hero United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant (SSgt.) Matthew Hansen, in an hour-long concert prior to the Crown Royal Presents The Matthew & Daniel Hansen 400 at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday, April 30.
...
Most recently, Atkins performed his hit song These are My People in front of fans and members of the NASCAR community in the Daytona International Speedway FANZONE and unveiled Matthew Hansen as the grand-prize winner of the annual Crown Royal Your Name Here 400 program. ..

.. said Yvonne Briese, Crown Royal Brand Director. It is a perfect way to start a memorable weekend to recognize the brave men and women who serve our country.

NASCAR was founded in 1948, and five years later the sanctioning body staged a race in its Grand National Division at Atlantic Rural Exposition Fairgrounds on April 19, 1953. Since that first race in Richmond in 1953, the track has undergone three name changes, four configuration changes and one surface change, from dirt to asphalt. Lights were also added to the facility in 1991. RIR is the only track to hold all of its major events under the lights. Richmond's unique, .75-mile layout produces tremendous side-by-side racing, yet drivers obtain high enough speeds to give it a superspeedway feel. That rare combination still allows for the beating and banging that fans love, with the drivers' skill playing a major role. The track's fall date is now the final race leading up to the Chase. Richmond, Virginny Thread is up!! Ping!!!
Boogity
I be here.
(and thanks for not making my eyes bleed with the fluorescent colors!)
Not again?
The Easter Egg color experiment is in the rear view mirror. :-)
That’s awesome that they’ve honored these brothers!
Let’s go Junior!
I'll see that B17 and raise ya a B29. ;-)
Living here in Richmond, I’ve been to the track a time or two. Took my older son and his buddy one day to an afternoon race and we got sunburned all to hell. Good stuff, though. A couple years later, my son’s buddy was killed in a car accident and etc. Now we mostly go to RIR for the gun shows.
OK, now that I am in front I am gonna be heavy on the slug juice sprayed on the track from under the back bumper. Tubebender has upped his prices since it is working so well. Hope he enjoys his vintage Ferrari race car that he bought with his earnings just in the spring series this year. I am going to look for synthetic slug juice made from corn.
I have been detained (arrested) until I file a EIR on the demise of the Big Bad Banana Slugs in Benderville and have been ordered to cease and decease sales to the Marxist country of Colorado until NASCAR rules on the sticky compound on Flash Gordon’s tars...
Well, it's about damn time.
Do I look fat in this sarcasm tag?
Please don't respond. She was a lovely person and I was lucky enough to have had a 23 year love affair with her. I will miss her deeply.
Enjoy the race.
Wow, someone in California referring to Colordo as marxist country? Making my head spin faster than Robbie Gordon spinning in the slug juice in turn 4.
Good thing we've got Cool ModsTM, because that kind of abusive missive could get you the reward of a serious time-out, or even banishment to the pointless forest on a lesser forum. |
I think tubebender wants to be arrested and maybe tortured by the “Cool Mods”. They could dig up his garden and replant in rows that are not quite straight. The “row benders”!
My deepest condolences to you and your family in this darkest of hours. God Speed to her on her journey with the Angels...
