I’ve flown in and out of Midway. It has a freakishly short runway for commercial jets.
The 737’s taxi to the very beginning of the runway, lock their brakes, throttle up, release the brakes and then pray real hard.
I thought they were talking about Midway island in the Pacific. This is a lot better.
I don’t like Midway
approaches are also interesting: They are thought of instruments, house, house, house, White Castle- DOwn hard.....
One time I was flying Southwest from Manchester NH to Oakland with a stop at Midway. Originally I was to stay on my plane as people got on or off, but we were told that the plane was being taken out of service so we had to go to another gate quite a distance away. Good thing I didn’t stop to get a drink or buy a paper or something—by the time I walked fast down this hall, down that hall, down that hall and got to the gate in question, I just managed to get on the flight in time—put way in the back, of course, which was nice given the steep
ascent the plane made...yuck.
I think there was a Southwest plane that skidded off the runway at Midway and a kid on the ground, in a car, was killed...
