Very 'odd': No Royal invites for Blair, Brown .. or Obama (OBAMA = BANNED IN BRITAIN !!!)

Didn't get an invitation to Friday's big event? Well, don't feel too bad--you're in pretty good company.

In a snub that's raised some eyebrows in Britain, neither of the country's two most recent former prime ministers received an invite. Also left out are President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama.

There's no place for either Tony Blair or Gordon Brown among the 1,900-member congregation, even though the other two living former British leaders, Baroness Margaret Thatcher and Sir John Major, were invited. (Thatcher, 85, has declined, citing her health, but Major will be there.) Adding to the awkwardness, when Prince Charles and Lady Diana were married in 1981, all surviving prime ministers attended.

I heard that the Queen has final say on this.

I don't think she cares much for Obama. Smart woman. :)

I agree it’s quite odd that neither Tony Blair nor Gordon Brown, who were PMs and/or cabinet and/or shadow cabinet members for over 10 years each, was invited.

Not so odd that the American head of state was not invited, but I haven’t studied my “history of weddings of royal grandsons who appear likely to become king.”

Obama hurt his individual case, of course, with his clumsy and/or deliberately rude diplomacy in his first year in office.

I wouldn’t invite Obozo and Moosechelle to my dog’s wedding!

Something about Blair and Brown not being part of the “Royal Order of somethingorother”.

For Barry, it must be that the Queen wasn’t impressed with the iPod and his speeches.

They only wanted folks that were their true friends. Why is this so difficult to understand. The Obama’s probably would have been invited to Charles and Diana’s wedding and the Blair’s too. This is a different generation and they don’t want stuffy politicians attending. It is the same as having a wedding and not wanting your ancient great aunt at the wedding. I don’t see this as an issue at all.

No, it’s not that reason. The Queen knows Obama is the world’s number one dirt bag and useless human being!!! Most people with common sense, brains and basic understanding come to the same conclusion!!!

Serves Obama right. We all knew the message he sent by returning the bust of Winston Churchill. He hates the British because of what they did to his father. Obama’s got issues.

Protocol is protocol.

If William had been the heir to the throne The President of the United States and the First Lady would have been invited - regardless of what low lives the Obamas are.

All former PMs would have been on the list also.

There may be a little German pee in the royal punch bowl tonight.

Schalke v Man Utd preview
Schalke will be hoping history repeats itself when they face Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

United have failed to see off German opposition in a two-legged European tie in their previous four attempts - with Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich (twice) having dashed their dreams in the past.

Schalke will be looking to add their name to that list this season and continue their fairytale run through the 2010/11 competition.

The conquerors of reigning champions Inter Milan have upset the odds on a regular basis and are currently unbeaten in their last nine continental outings - picking up seven wins and two draws.

It’s not odd. It’s not an official ‘State’ event so most heads of state outside the commonwealth aren’t invited. If GWB was president right now he wouldn’t be invited either.
