Obama Issued Proclamations for Ramadan, Eid al Fitr, Eid al Adha, Hajj and Earth Day--But Not Easter Tuesday, April 26, 2011 By Fred Lucas
Washington (CNSNews.com) The White House updated its response to questions Monday to explain why the president did not put out a formal proclamation for Easter--after putting out proclamations for Muslim holidays and Earth Day.
Obama attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington on Easter Sunday and held a White House prayer breakfast last Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney pointed out.
On Friday, the President Barack Obama issued a proclamation on Earth Day. However, two days later, he did not issue such a proclamation for Easter, despite having issued similar proclamations for other religious holidays. During 2010, the White House released proclamations on Muslim holidays Ramadan, Eid-al-Fitr , Hajj, and Eid-al-Adha . The president also issued a statement on the Jewish holiday Hanukah. Also, Obama and first lady Michelle Obama wished the public a Merry Christmas on Dec. 25, 2010, in a video message.
Carney added the following written statement at the top of the transcript for the Monday press briefing.
Last Tuesday, the President delivered remarks about Easter at an Easter breakfast he hosted in the East Room. The transcript of the Presidents remarks can be found HERE, linking to the transcript of the event.
Before that, Carney fielded questions about why Obama did not issue a proclamation about Easter.
One reporter asked, You guys traditionally put out statements or proclamations on various religious holidays and I dont think I saw one from the president on Easter yesterday and was just wondering if theres any reason one didnt go out.
Carney responded, You know, the President went to the church yesterday; it was well covered. Im not sure if we put out a statement or not, but he obviously personally celebrated Easter with his family and went to church to celebrate that, and--
Another reported interjected, Wait a minute. The highest Christian holiday and you dont know if he put out a statement?
Carney responded, Im glad youre asking these key important questions, guys. The fact is, the president took his family to church in a very high-profile way to celebrate Easter. I think it was highly visible to most Americans. And he -- as a devoted Christian, he believes its a very important holiday for him personally, for his family and for Christians around the country.
It was at the White House Easter Prayer Breakfast last Tuesday that Carney mentioned where Obama said, I wanted to host this breakfast for a simple reason--because as busy as we are, as many tasks as pile up, during this season, we are reminded that theres something about the resurrection--something about the resurrection of our savior, Jesus Christ, that puts everything else in perspective.
Duh! He’s a Muslim.
Since when are racists pastors spewing hate from the pulpit a Christian Church?
He needs to be tarred and feathered and run out of our country. He is a joke and an idiot anyway.
He needs to be tarred and feathered and run out of our country. He is a joke and an idiot anyway.
They would say Allah has no son because he has no need of a son.
"John McCain never questioned my Muslim faith"
and stated that the Muslim call to morning prayer is "the most beautiful sound in the world"
...but move along...nothing to see here, folks! (riiiight)
May Day coming up, comrades.
I’m not sure he’s a Muslim, but a Muslim sympathizer.
“What gets me, is how BOTH political parties fall into line over letting this usurper run this country.”
There are not two parties. There is a right hand entrance and a left hand entrance to the same Government Party.
That's right . . . Muslims, Obambi included, believe that Jesus was nothing more than a prophet and never would have been subjected to torture, crucifixion, and death like Jesus went through.
Therefore, Obambi can read from bunny books and not feel guilty. Isn't he a work of art? Aren't we just so fortunate to have him and Mooch-elle in our White House?
He participated in an egg roll at the White House ... isn’t that enough?! /s
There, I fixed it.
A true Christian, IMO, would not hit the prayer rug. He knows the Muslim religion, but, I’m just not sure he is a true one. If so, they are giving him a pass, or else he would be considered an infidel in their eyes.
Not sure what to think, except I don’t believe he is a Christian.
I’m no expert, but I don’t think that a Muslim would go so far as to attend a Christian Church, such as the one mentioned in the article. That smacks a lot like apotasy and/or blasphemy, two things which are both big no-nos.
I don’t think a Muslim would go so far as to actually attend a CHristian Church, even one which merely thinks it’s Christian. That smacks of blasphemy and/or apostacy. Both of which are frowned on. I don’t think he’s a Muslim, at least currently, but I believe he’s a muslim sypathizer and appeaser.
Read up on the term ‘taqiyya’ in mooselimb tradition.
I don’t think Obama is currently a Muslim, however, I think he’s a former Muslim who still has feelings for the religion, i.e. he’s a appeaser and sympathizer.
