Life in Our Nation’s Capitol, or, as I think about, our National Zoo. He is lucky he didn’t get run down.

Traffic was at an absolute standstill in both directions so he was never in any jeopardy of being hit. I was petrifie that the mob was going to startnattacking people in their cars. Never have I wished that the District would respect my Second Amendment rights more than I did this afternoon.

Despite the seeming upscale nature of how it presents itself, the National Zoo area (between Woodley Park and Cleveland Park) is not really a safe place. I've had a number of friends mugged in the area over the years (including one who was severely beaten by a couple thugs with baseball bats while walking home along Macomb St. after an evening at the old 4Ps) and always advise people to not venture from the immediate area of the two Metro stations ... and NEVER to attempt to walk between them. Esp at night.
