Former Forsyth County Teacher Wanted On 64 Sex Charges

Winston-Salem, NC -- A former Parkland High School teacher is wanted on 64 sex charges.

Terry Lamar Jones Jr. is wanted on 64 separate charges of sexual activity with a student, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The allegations were made from a student he had contact with while working at Parkland High School in Winston-Salem.

Detectives said Jones is currently the band director at Shepard Magnet Middle School in Durham, NC.

The investigation started after the sheriff's office was alerted to a newspaper article on April 18 in the student newspaper at NC Central University. The student who wrote it said she and a former Parkland teacher, who was also the band director, had engaged in a sexual relationship.

The reported offenses occurred between October 2007 and May of 2008.

"I am shocked and saddened by these charges," said Superintendent Don Martin in the release. "If they are true, they completely contradict what we expect of all our employees.

Investigators are still looking for Jones, who is living in Durham. Anyone with information is asked to call the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office at 336-917-7001.

My mistake. Sorry. I saw the caption on the screen, “Teacher Wanted,” next to the guy in the suit and tie, and thought that was the wanted teacher. Now that I clicked it, I see the guy pictured is the TV news-reader. The teacher’s pic is not in the news video.

Color me completely unsurprised that:

(a) the scumbag teacher is teaching here in the Durham County Public Schools, one of the worst systems in the entire state of North Carolina;

(b) the student is attending North Carolina Central University, also here in Durham, whose most famous graduate is Crystal Mangum of Duke lacrosse fame.
