Educational video of a standoff between citizens in an RV who want to be left alone, exercising their 4th Amendment rights, and border "inspectors", looking for contraband fruit, who won't leave our heros alone, at the CA-AZ border. The drone chief "inspector" has the IQ of a broccoli.
All said, the California Inspection stations are a joke. We came back into California recently from Las Vegas. The Ag Inspection Station straddles I 15 just east of Barstow ( more than 150 miles inslde the state). We wondered, on a Sunday afternoon, why the freeway was stopped just outside Baker. It took two hours to reach the “accident,” the Ag Inspection station. The funny thing was we saw an 18 wheeler leave the freeway at Baker and proceed on the frontage road, as were all the folks in the know. At the Ag Inspection station you could see the congo line on the frontage road bypassing the check point. But at the end, they weren’t inspecting anything, you just had to slow down to a crawl so the moron in the dayglo vest could inquire as to where you’ve been! The person indeed looked brain dead, just a gov’t automaton putting in his time. I’m all for keeping California agriculture pest free, but these stations aren’t doing the job, they’re just a major inconvenience.
Looking at San Francisco and recent laws tells us they’re not doing a very good job keeping the fruits out of California.
Godwin is a Nazi and so are you?
Keep this up and the only folks who get stopped for anything will be law abiding solid citizens while the lawbreakers can come and go as they please.
We need to protect the citizens and taxpayers of the United States from two legged pests.
Watching this video made me want to see two RV’ers get their a$$e$ kicked by a big ol’ piece of brocoli. They were jerks.
I guess anyone questioning the constitutionality of unconstitutional searches are jerks.
I guess there are too many of the non-jerks who willingly submit to unconstitutional acts of government agencies to render the constitution irrelevant. Proof of this is evident in the comments of many of our politicians that the government can do anything and ridiculing those of us who still believe in the brilliance of those who on the FR of all places are now called jerks.
What has been missed or ignored by so many on this thread is the government thug was going to use whatever force possible to harass the people in the RV because they were taping the actions of government officials.
I had the JBT types demand a search of my RV at Mr. Rushmore using bomb sniffing dogs. Well folks, just like any human who works for the government the dogs were too lazy to ID all the LEGAL fireworks packed into the RV. /sarcasm as I am sure the dogs were looking for another type of explosive.
I only wished I had demanded a search warrant DETAILING what was being searched for BECAUSE as all of you have missed here, if the occupants of the RV allowed this search without a warrant anything which was found could be used against them and it would not be limited to fruits and vegetables.
If you give consent to be searched without a warrant you are a jerk because you have exposed yourself to just about anything the JBTs want to drum up.
One more point! If it is soooooooooo important to inspect for fruits and vegetables (and I don’t doubt there is SOME need) why do the very same JBTs continue to allow the 3rd world sewer traffic over the Southern border? Do you think these law breakers have made sure they are not importing some dangerous bug?
Sure, I can hear the conversation right now: Jose, we are going to sneak over the border tonight to get welfare, free health care, free education, make sure you bring the drugs but by all means make sure you don’t bring that damned orange.
What other state has these kind of stations? I live in a big agricultural area and there are no inspection stations anywhere in the Midwest. I’ve driven all over the US and have never encountered a station like this from the Atlantic to the Rockies.
What makes California so special that they are the only state in the contiguous 48 to have this sort of inspection?
Extreme douchbaggery.
They should have used an alternative solution. Sealed up the RV with the jerks in it, and pumped it full of DDT. Unseal it after 72 hours and tell the folks that they can drive on.
Dirty little secret, get off the interstate and drive in on a state or county road. Their check points are all on the "freeways" (I use the term loosely)

PS My last trip to CA I drove from Nevada on a back road to Scottie's Castle in Death Valley. Did a little sight seeing and ended up in Mohave CA. I like the scenic route when ever possible.
As to their mention of federal border stops, the federal government's role in protecting the border is constitutionally-based. A long line of decisions spells out the FEDERAL government's rights in connection with a border stop and inspection. Those cases relate in large part to the interest in policing smuggling. The courts have definitely been expansive on border stops in recent decades, allowing the Feds to conduct them far from the actual border. I personally think that is wrong, that you can't stop every car at a customs checkpoint 70 miles from the border and call it a border stop. But current law allows it, and if you want to fight it, the Supreme Court would have to overturn its own precedent. Good luck with that.
After the tape shut down, I wonder what happened? I will bet you the state conducted its inspection.
They wave me on through on the motorcycle. What is the purpose of these? Is it concern that the produce will have some pest on it that will impact California crops? I know we have some rules here in Washington regarding apple transport for just that reason.
This might be a good time to start a rumor claiming all
illegal aliens are infested with Med-flies and Screw-worms.
Might work...
In a word, yes.

Nothing exceptional here; this could easily describe the vast majority of federal employees.
My guess is that the RV jerks are Ron Paulistas.
