Spooked by the rising price of gasoline, the Obama administration has responded in its usual fashion: not by trying to solve the problem, but by looking for someone to demonize. We wrote last night about Obama's attack on "speculators;" he has seen political advantage in going after America's oil companies, too:

" President Obama lashed out at oil companies -- and the tax breaks they get from the government -- for a second day in a row on Thursday and again in Saturday's address.
' "Four billion dollars of your money are going to these companies at a time when they're making record profits and you're paying near record prices at the pump," the president said at a Nevada town hall. "It has to stop." ...'
[B]y hitting the oil companies over subsidies and sending the Justice Department on an investigation, Obama can try to mend fences with his allies.
It is easy to show that Obama's attack on the oil companies is baseless. "
-good links in the article, also.
That's Racist.
Well, then Obama's a bigger speculator than the speculators since a few weeks ago he made a speech warning of higher gas prices to come due to the crisis in Libya. (wish I could find the link - I remember it was posted here in FR)
Perhaps Obama himself talked the gas prices up.
Obama can’t do a damn thing as the idiot left is about to learn. They use this to slow the train.
Well Republicans? You never had it so easy. Are you going to let this easy win go to waste?
Hugo likes it. I wonder what Sean Pinhead thinks.
Cant blame the speculators, they see that we are at the mercy of foreign oil in unstable countries and so they do what they do-speculate.
Cant blame the oil companies, they arent allowed to explore and drill in this country to relieve that speculation.
Cant blame the consumer, since they need that commodity to get to where they are going-gas use is at a low.
What should be blamed is the Federal Gubmint and the Federal reserve.
If you open US drilling to only US selling the bottom would drop out.
obama is going to have a tough time if he cannot carry Florida.
The economy in Florida depends a lot on tourism. With gas prices so high, a lot of folks aren’t traveling.
good luck, hussein. Well, not really, I won’t your azz removed from office in Jan. 2013.
“Cant blame the speculators, they see that we are at the mercy of foreign oil in unstable countries and so they do what they do-speculate.”
-remember they bought that oil 3-6 months ago in a volatile market that remains so, they are at the market’s mercy, too.
Funny we never hear anything about speculators when oil prices drop or are lower for a while, I guess they’re all on vacation when that’s happening... :)
Right. All he would have to do is issue an Executive Order allowing deep water and offshore drilling and allow drilling in ANWAR. And don't give me this "It-will-take-ten-years-for-new-wells-to-lower-prices." Only ignorant people say that. With the Executive Order above, the spot price of oil would drop within hours of the announcement.
So why doesn't he do it? I'm starting to think it's either that: 1) he wants to destroy the US economy or 2) he wants to transfer huge chunks of US wealth to Arab countries. One thing is clear: He is NOT pro-American.
“The stupidity of Obobo simply amazes me. He has no clue about the economic forces at work here.”
I’m sure he’s very much aware of them. The truth won’t serve his purposes, however, so he demonizes speculators and oil companies as the article states.
I’ve never heard a politician in the mode Obama is operating in describe oil company profits as anything other than “record” profits.
Rules For Radicals 101.
He is controlling global market leadership. In essence, he likes his conservative place.
If you are STARTING to feel those things, you are remarkably slow.
There's your answer, the ultimate goal, of course, being the destruction of America in its entirety.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Just look at what Chavez is doing. Obama is part of the same cabal, but if he threatens independence, growth, and capitalism it will all fade. Watch them.
