UPDATED 5:08 p.m. with witness information from gas station. ST. LOUIS • Police this afternoon arrested one of two men who escaped from the St. Louis Justice Center. The other man is still at large.
David White, 33, was arrested at a Phillips 66 station at North Broadway and East Grand Boulevard about 4 p.m., police said. White had been in the jail's infirmary for a broken leg and broke his other leg during the escape.
According to Omar Omar, a clerk at the gas station, police surrounded an older model white Cadillac just before 3:30 p.m. Four people, including a child, were in the car. White was in the back seat, wearing what another clerk described as a "Bruce Lee wig," with short, black hair.
"He looked really stupid," Omar said. "It was crazy."
