It is interesting you say that. I’ve read an interesting essay in the last few years by someone (it might have been Mark Steyn) about how Italy has gone in 50 years from being a noticeably poor country, as compared to Great Britain, to being better off than GB, largely as a result of this. The item made an excellent argument for the thesis.
