Are we sure that the support of “independents” and “moderates” are required to win? Reagan was a polarizing figure (or at least the press made him out to be an extremist) and he won handily.

I agree it’s possible, especially if BO wins the Democrat Party nomination (not a sure thing, but likely), the economy remains in the toilet (particularly if food and gasoline prices continue to explode) and a third-party candidate doesn’t split the vote ... it sure is possible and would be a great victory for conservatives and traditional American values.
