Frontline: Priests Molested “Nearly 80% Of The Town’s Children”
The New Civil Rights Movement.com ^ | 4/19/11 | David Badash

Frontline’s next exposé focuses on the “decades of abuse of Native Americans by priests and other church workers in Alaska,” and in one particular town they find, “nearly 80% of the town’s children were molested” by Catholic priests.

As we reported on this story just a few weeks ago, the Roman Catholic Church, as part of ongoing lawsuits, will make payments to approximately 700 male and female sexual and psychological abuse, molestation, and rape victims who were living in Alaska Native villages and Indian reservations from Montana to Washington, Idaho and Oregon, and who were “sexually or psychologically abused as children by Jesuit missionaries in those states in the 1940s through the 1990s,” according to a statement by attorneys.

The latest agreement will financially compensate 524 victims with $166.1 million in cases including accusations against 140 Jesuit priests, brothers, and nuns from the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus, in the Pacific Northwest. Only $48 million will come from the Catholic Church, the remainder will be paid by its insurance companies.

None of the Jesuit priests are being charged with any crime related to this abuse, rape, and molestation settlement.

Not one arrest? I double-checked: Alaska has NO statute of limitations for murder, or for sexual abuse. None. The Jesuits are as pervy and heretical as they come, but I’m finding it hard to believe that all these priests were guilty, yet not a one of the living priests was guilty beyond reasonable doubt. I almost wonder if some good priests aren’t getting thrown under the bus in the name of a quick, tidy settlement.

I found out about the show because I watched last week’s Frontline, a great show about the dangers of concussion in football players, at the end of the show, they previewed this week’s show.

—INGROWN TOWNS, VILLAGES, NEIGHBORHOODS WITH GREAT FEAR OF THE HIERARCHY?

Have you had NO experience ever of being ANY POWERFUL PERSON’S VICTIM?

etc. etc. etc.

NOT PROVEN in this case. From the article:

None of the Jesuit priests are being charged with any crime related to this abuse, rape, and molestation settlement.

“None of the Jesuit priests are being charged with any crime related to this abuse, rape, and molestation settlement.”

Statute of limitations probably has run out.

Not only are the offenders culpable but those who knew of it and did nothing and so acted as enablers.
Those Catholics that have poured their resources into their church only to see these child molesters use it to cover their own backsides have been victimized too. They’ve had fraud on several levels worked upon them by their own church.

That some remain in denial yet is both sad and understandable.

I welcome it, seeing that it’s in the daylight instead of the RF. The bullies aren’t going to be able to hide out here.

I think it’s wise to consider the source (both the poster and the site this is from) and how realistic these claims are.

The Jesuits also have very excellent defense lawyers.

It's meaningless what some here are saying that they doubt the truth of the story.

The story that has been broadcast all over the world is that $166 million has been paid out to victims of sexual abuse.

The victims are children who were abused by their pastors.

This story is all over the media.

Here are some other sites for the same information. A simple google search brought up a bunch of them.

Interesting, isn’t it, how the blame for the damage to the reputation of the Catholic church is so often laid at the feet of those who expose it’s filthiness and not at the feet of those who created the filthiness.

The Catholic church made its own bed and now has to lay in it. Too bad for them. If they had dealt with it appropriately in the first place, none of this would be an issue.

So, what, all the kids made it up? Here is Lobdell’s original article.

http://www.bishop-accountability.org/news2007/11_12/2005_11_19_Lobdell_MissionarysDark.htm

The priests sent up there had a history of rape, the church sent the up there to get rid of them, rather than have them in counseling or in jail.

Prove it didn’t happen, you are making the claim it didn’t.

Sure, there have been abuses. No one here denies that and everyone here is very angry about them. But how does that prove this story or take away from the fact that it was posted from a gay blog.

All of a sudden you’re latching on to PBS and gay blogs to further your blind hatred.

I am? Where? Prove to me that I am using those sources by providing links where I used them.
