Frontline: Priests Molested “Nearly 80% Of The Town’s Children”
The New Civil Rights Movement.com ^ | 4/19/11 | David Badash

Frontline’s next exposé focuses on the “decades of abuse of Native Americans by priests and other church workers in Alaska,” and in one particular town they find, “nearly 80% of the town’s children were molested” by Catholic priests.

As we reported on this story just a few weeks ago, the Roman Catholic Church, as part of ongoing lawsuits, will make payments to approximately 700 male and female sexual and psychological abuse, molestation, and rape victims who were living in Alaska Native villages and Indian reservations from Montana to Washington, Idaho and Oregon, and who were “sexually or psychologically abused as children by Jesuit missionaries in those states in the 1940s through the 1990s,” according to a statement by attorneys.

The latest agreement will financially compensate 524 victims with $166.1 million in cases including accusations against 140 Jesuit priests, brothers, and nuns from the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus, in the Pacific Northwest. Only $48 million will come from the Catholic Church, the remainder will be paid by its insurance companies.

None of the Jesuit priests are being charged with any crime related to this abuse, rape, and molestation settlement.

Is it really so hard to understand that the Holy Spirit is what guides you in understanding what is correct and what is not? Furthermore, if you actually did know your Scriptures like you claim, you'd know that the answer to your question is that Scripture teaches us what is truth.

2Ti 3:16-17 KJV - [16] All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Christ said . . .

Holy Spirit would lead individuals into all truth . . .

He didn’t lie.

I suspect it matters a lot how leadable individuals are.

Besides all that, neither Peter nor Paul were the leaders of the Church. They were Bishops, but not the Head. That role is reserved for only one person, Christ Jesus.

The Pope is head of the Church ON EARTH.The VISIBLE head of the Church.

Matt. 16:18-19 "Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church...and I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven."

Oh but no, you’re not getting away that easily. You, not anyone else, claimed that posting this thread during Holy Week showed exactly where we were from. If we’re not of God, where else is there? You made the slam, obliquely but it was still a slam, now you’re going to defend it.

Ah, so what you’re saying is that the Church is an abomination with two heads! After all, an EARTHLY head is only necessary if Christ is no longer with us and didn’t leave us anyone to help. I got it, that makes it so much easier to understand you.

If you were intellectually honest, you’d admit that you either don’t know what Quix is talking about or are just making stuff up. Quix doesn’t believe in aliens, as in beings from another planet. He, and I as well, believe that the things that are being reported as “aliens” are actually fallen angels trying to deceive people away from Christ and the Gospel.

Yeah, how dare I suggest that you stand by what you say. How novel of a concept. If you’ve got the guts to say it, have the spine to stand by it or keep your trap shut.

I'll attempt to answer your question without reverting to the snarky tone you used on me: I know about the Holy Spirit, but when one reads the Bible, one has to interpret what one just read. David Koresh knew the Bible backwards and forwards, but his interpretation wasn't truth, was it?

So your holier-than-thou "answer" wasn't really all that informative. I guess I just don't have the hubris that some of the anti-Catholic cabal around here has to think I know it all.

I’m not the one who said that the Church had two heads and was, therefore, an abomination. That was all you bub.

Actually, Koresh didn't know the Bible and didn't have the Holy Spirit leading him, otherwise he wouldn't have done what he did now would he?

Bluntly put, if more people studied their Bibles and let the Holy Spirit lead them rather than just swallow whatever their Preacher/Pastor/Priest tells them, we wouldn't have half the problems we have now, including the bickering back and forth between denominations.
