Frontlines next exposé focuses on the decades of abuse of Native Americans by priests and other church workers in Alaska, and in one particular town they find, nearly 80% of the towns children were molested by Catholic priests.
As we reported on this story just a few weeks ago, the Roman Catholic Church, as part of ongoing lawsuits, will make payments to approximately 700 male and female sexual and psychological abuse, molestation, and rape victims who were living in Alaska Native villages and Indian reservations from Montana to Washington, Idaho and Oregon, and who were sexually or psychologically abused as children by Jesuit missionaries in those states in the 1940s through the 1990s, according to a statement by attorneys.
The latest agreement will financially compensate 524 victims with $166.1 million in cases including accusations against 140 Jesuit priests, brothers, and nuns from the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus, in the Pacific Northwest. Only $48 million will come from the Catholic Church, the remainder will be paid by its insurance companies.
None of the Jesuit priests are being charged with any crime related to this abuse, rape, and molestation settlement.

Ummm, no.
I am stunned you are continuing with this
I'm not stunned that you don't care where this story came from and how it ended being posted.
is it attention you need?
Is it bashing the Catholic Church that you need?
Do you dispute that this case ever happened?
Think carefully, there were lawsuits and findings and testimony.
You can’t focus on the subject because you can’t prove anything, so you focus on the source which is meaningless.
You lack any sophistication in your debating skills, you are a very lazy debater. Now...focus on the actual article, or, if you choose, focus on Lobdell’s article back in 2005.
None of the Jesuit priests are being charged with any crime related to this abuse, rape, and molestation settlement.
Now why is that? Because the RCC drags its feet on these crimes until the statute of limitations is reached, and then lets the insurance companies pay the bulk of the settlements.
Rome's got this down pat.
Yes, your’re right...just makes me angry that some still cannot see the tree thru the forest of their own willfulnees not to see the truth.
And Yes, I am ever so grateful it’s out and known. I had a catholic friend several years ago who was catholic and their Pastor had a young male friend he was suppose to be “helping” though the whole church membership knew it was far more than that. I asked her why wasn’t anyone saying any thing...she said it was simply accepted and then spoke highly of the Priest for all the good he was doing at the church. I called her on this and it almost cost me the friendship.
No, I'm skeptical about the 80% claim.
You cant focus on the subject because you cant prove anything
I wasn't aware of that I was trying to prove anything, except that this source is dubious.
you focus on the source which is meaningless.
O, silly goose, of course the source isn't meaningless.
You lack any sophistication in your debating skills, you are a very lazy debater.
There are some very smart posters on this site. I learn from them instead of trying to debate them, and they would mop me up if I tried debating them. You're not one of them.
Actually they can see the truth, but they don't care.
They want to protect the church, at all costs. Other than that, they simply don't care about the hundreds of thousands of kids all over the world who were molested.
You’re welcome...
OK, prove the 80% claim. Show your work.
The source is meaningless, did you watch the show? Did you read the LA Times series back in 2005 that exposes this? Why not use those as a source, ignore the other one.
OK now, focus. Focus on the allegations, the fact that the Bishop went and apologized, the fact that the RC has paid out hundreds of millions because of rapist priests.
We had 2 rapist priests in my parish, both have been in jail now for decades, but the Bishop knew about them, had complaints, had tons of evidence, one even got caught masturbating in an adult bookstore and the Bishop intervened and kept him from being arrested. The Catholic Church did some very bad things, they still are. I am proud not to be Catholic, or belong to any denomination any more.
It was you who posted trash WpaCon...they simply posted the facts which many others also took the news from that site. So it is attention you are looking for. Ok then I'm not going to give you anymore. You've made your intentions fully known now...and I'll have no part of that. We are done discussing this.
How quickly do you think the Vatican would get seriously serious about this issue if ALL the donations dried up overnight? The RCF (Roman Catholic Faithful) have power they don't even realize.
Very good point!
I thought I was the one skeptical of the 80% claim, not you.

1) It's fine to tell a story like this, but if you do, don't keep telling me to focus.
2) I notice a trend here where many ex-Catholics are the most forceful in condemning their former Church.
3) If these priests were the reason you leaved, you have to realize that whether a Church teaches the truth or not is not based on how much its members sin.
So there it is yet again...the church has a priority over it’s children.
You know until this nation starts to care more for it’s children, the born and un-born as well, then they do their church, their careers, their lifestyle etc. then God is not going to bless us no matter how much we pray for that.
I cannot understand it nor do I want to. All the cover-ups and still to this day... and this without hardly a blink. Further more they wouldn’t even considering leaving their church to protect the children who remain! As I see it they are shameless cowards and as guilty as those who committed these acts and continue to...it’s been years going on and it still continues.
I will say this...if i meet any catholic who still attends a church I am going to aks them, if they have children, how can they still attend knowing their leadership covers the Priests and moves them to other parishes, which puts their children at risk.
Ummm, no.
So it is attention you are looking for.
You can pretend that's true if you want.
You've made your intentions fully known now.
Actually, you just made that up out of whole cloth.
We are done discussing this.
Great. I'm glad you'll stop saying things that you pulled right out of your butt.
Her molester was an Uncle, someone she thought she could trust. It started at age 8 and she eventually went along to protect a younger sister who he threatened to rape. Self serving pure evil are what these people are.
Excellent, excellent thoughts!
I cannot understand any of it either.
Twist it any way you want it; you know exactly what our position is. And we know that you people don’t give a damn about Catholic kids; you use these reports to spread your vile hatred.
So very true...
