Frontlines next exposé focuses on the decades of abuse of Native Americans by priests and other church workers in Alaska, and in one particular town they find, nearly 80% of the towns children were molested by Catholic priests.
As we reported on this story just a few weeks ago, the Roman Catholic Church, as part of ongoing lawsuits, will make payments to approximately 700 male and female sexual and psychological abuse, molestation, and rape victims who were living in Alaska Native villages and Indian reservations from Montana to Washington, Idaho and Oregon, and who were sexually or psychologically abused as children by Jesuit missionaries in those states in the 1940s through the 1990s, according to a statement by attorneys.
The latest agreement will financially compensate 524 victims with $166.1 million in cases including accusations against 140 Jesuit priests, brothers, and nuns from the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus, in the Pacific Northwest. Only $48 million will come from the Catholic Church, the remainder will be paid by its insurance companies.
None of the Jesuit priests are being charged with any crime related to this abuse, rape, and molestation settlement.

It's either that or Dr. Scarpetta didn't check her source before posting.
That's what I'd like to know.
My goodness, you’re a difficult person to agree with.
I said, “Yes, yes, yes.” I don’t really know what else to say except, “Yes.”
It’s a nice, little payday for them.
Ka-ching!
Justice is coming for all the victims.
That doesn’t answer my question as to whether you checked this source before posting or not.
I doubt there are any who would consider any amount of money significant to the actual number of times each child was assulted over so many years. As far as I’m concerned God is just and if some get money who were not actually abused then that’s a good thing since there is no payment large enough for ‘each incident’ which happened to so many children. This is one case where I can gladly say...”spread the welath around “....and more power to the any child who reaps something from what might have been them being next in line.
I don’t care that it was on a gay blog. That has nothing to do with the case. There are plenty of other sites that reference this case. You try to deflect but its meaningless.
Focus on the subject. Focus on the subject....focus....
Yup. Like I said, a nice, little payday. Why not!
Metmom....any child within their care if not a victim would have been next in line...so as far as I’m concerned every child within their care at that time is worthy of any payment which comes to them. They were likely all considered one way or another.
IMO you are looking for a fight and I do hope that the poster continues to ignore you as they should. So now pleasse address the issue of Priests and Bishops abusing children sexually around the world within the catholic church.
The Rev. Michael Toulouse
Toulouse was first accused of sex abuse in late 1950, when the father of a 14-year-old boy stalked into the office of the Rev. Francis Corkery, president of Gonzaga University in Spokane, carrying a pistol.
The distraught dad told Corkery he intended to kill Toulouse and tell the press how the priest had sexually abused his son for two years.
Corkery jumped up, according to a witness account in court papers, and said, "No, you can't do that. I'll take care of it."
Toulouse's superiors confronted him. They said the boy accused him of molesting him before morning Masses at the priest's residence.
Toulouse, then 39, told superiors the boy had been the aggressor.
"Question: Should this case be referred to Rome? Ans. All consultors (reply) negatively. Handle it here."
The Jesuits sent Toulouse to a teaching job at Seattle University, which riled the school's president. It appeared to him that Toulouse was thrust on him not to fill gaps in his faculty "but because he had to be got out of Spokane."
No one, it appears, warned Seattle's children.
By 1953, Toulouse was planting his feet under the table of a working-class family in Seattle. He won their hearts with his philosophical orations, and took a special interest in their 10-year-old son.
Now in his middle 60s, the son and two younger brothers accuse Toulouse of worming his way into their home and molesting them, one after another, until the youngest told his mother in 1965.
No steady boyfriends, no marriage, no children. Bottom line, she has told me she doesn't deserve what the rest of us have She blames herself. These molesters ROB children of their lives.
Then take your desire for “knowing’ privately and quite smearing this thread. I am stunned you are continuing with this...is it attention you need?
I see. Let's never consider the sources. If someone said it, then it must be true.
No steady boyfriends, no marriage, no children. Bottom line, she has told me she doesn't deserve what the rest of us have She blames herself. These molesters ROB children of their lives.
How very, very, sad...
I'm not the one looking for a fight.
I do hope that the poster continues to ignore you as they should.
I understand that you want the poster to dodge the question, because it might shine some negative light on their posting habits.
More dodging the question.
It’s actually irrelevant what this person is saying to you and to me.
The dam has burst, and the truth is out. He can live in LA-LA LAND, if he wants to.
I have counseled those who have been abused by people one is supposed to trust fully....words cannot express the agony and inner pain let alone how they see themsleves. Takes a long time to get beyond it...but one can overcome. What is the greatest tragedy of all is how they then see God since priests were the perps....I don't think we can imagine.
