The Pinto!
I drove a Pinto for 100,000 miles back in the 70’s. It was my first car, delivered for about $2000. I had the 2000cc german engine, which delivered good performance, although I couldn’t keep up with a VW over washboard gravel roads with my leafspring suspension.
It had a monocoque construction, i.e. no frame, and it’s vulnerability in a collision was obvious. The rack and pinion steering allowed me to avoid two death-dealers, that I can recall. Anyway, I survived and I loved every minute of it.
LOL - although, I’d take a $2000 Pinto over one of these government motors firetraps any day. At least you had to provoke the Pinto to get it to burn!
