How Donald Trump Lost the Black Vote
Henry Louis Gates' "The Root" ^ | 15 April | Swerdlick

(lotsa prefacing trash, but gets to the proper point)

... where we are these days with Donald Trump -- in a matter of weeks, he's propelled himself into the "I wish a motherf***** would" phase of his as-yet-undeclared presidential campaign. He's talked enough smack about President Barack Obama that it's time, as Bill Cosby demanded last week on Today, for Trump to run or just "shut up." It's time that Trump talked about Obama to his face.

After a monthlong "Birther" tour that stopped at Good Morning America, O'Reilly and The View to deposit the recycled claim that under Obama, "this country is going to hell," and Trump's thoroughly debunked "doubts" about Obama's citizenship -- including his theory that the first black president's white grandparents fudged his birth records to get him on welfare -- this week Trump went on Fred Dicker's radio show and presented the caveat that he's got "a great relationship with the blacks."

Not anymore. Let's shoot it straight: Plenty of black folks appreciate a blunt-talking guy dipped in expensive suits, as much as -- if not more -- than the next person. If Trump had coupled his reality-TV and Twitter-friendly style with the tolerant social views and "You can have all this, too" team-of-me ethos that he once touted, he could have been the one candidate in the 2012 Republican field to peel away a few black votes from Obama.

While African Americans still support Obama at an 85 percent clip, contrary to popular belief, black America can roll with a lot of the criticism about the president's leadership. But once Trump started arguing that Obama wasn't American, whatever goodwill he had in blackworld up and vanished.

If Trump is even wondering, here's why his passport to black America is probably canceled:

“It’s time that Trump talked about Obama to his face.”

LOL! As if Zero would allow himself to be within 50 miles of Trump.

The @ssclown who wrote this also said something about Trump lost the black vote when he started saying that Zero isn’t an American.

HELLO!!!!!!! Trump never said that. All he has said is that there’s something not right about the BC. And so goes the media’s concerted effort to protect the Poser in Chief NO MATTER WHAT.

and Trump's thoroughly debunked "doubts" about Obama's citizenship...,.

******

"Debunked"?

It fascinates me how pro-Obama supporters---tv people and media columnists ----continually use the word "debunked" when referring to the Obama long form birth certificate controversy and to the questions as to where Obama was born as if it is a long accepted FACT, when, in reality, nothing has been "debunked" at all.

1. I guess they are trying to use some kind of amateurish psychological brainwashing technique on the public: They believe that if they use the word "debunked" over and over again and long enough, people will start to believe that Obama's long form birth certificate controversy must surely have been "debunked" a long time ago if a lot of smart journalists and tv people say it is. What rubbish.

2. Really, what do these "debunked" supporters have as evidence that Obama's long form birth certificate controversy has been "debunked", or that it has even come close to being so-called "debunked"?

a. Newspaper birth announcements 1961: This is the evidence that most pro-Obama people cite as concrete proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that Obama was born in Hawaii to the Obama family.

b. However, 1961 is so long ago that people living today in Hawaii but who were not living back then cannot be absolutely sure if non-hospital births were mixed in with hospital births when the Health Dept. sent its birth list to the two newspapers in 1961. Of course, many people who could tell us what happened at the Health Dept and the newswpapers way back in 1961 are dead now, sad to say.

3. Obama's short form birth certificate on his own website that we saw in 2008: Really, when pro-Obama supporters cite this source as proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that Obama was born in Hawaii to the Obama family, I can't help laughing, because this Obama short form "birth certificate" has so much controversy surrounding it---where's the seal? Was it tampered with before it was displayed on the website, and on and on---- that this source could be the weakest evidence that pro-Obama supporters could cite as proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that Obama is who he says he is and that the Obama long form birth certificate has been "debunked". Too funny.

4. Myself, I can't think of other supposedly strong evidence that pro-Obama people use to argue that the Obama long form birth certificate controversy has been "debunked".

5. If I missed other arguments/evidence that pro-Obama writers and tv people use to prove that Obama's long form birth certificate controversy has been "debunked", please let me know.

6. Of course, coward and liar Obama could easily "debunk" all the anti-Obama controversy surrounding his long form birth certificate with one simple act on his part: He could authorize Hawaii officials to release his long and short form birth certificates to the public today.

7. Of course, that will never happen, because you and I know that the suspicion is growing more and more as Trump attacks Obama each day that an Obama long form birth certificate, sad to say, does not exist.

African American voters have NOTHING to withhold from Republican candidates anymore.

The political market place has already discounted the value of the black vote for Republicans and made adjustments.

Odd analysis.

“The Blacks” was an odd statement, but it’s very Donald. He says things in odd ways.

Herman Cain is not a threat to Trump, and Cain himself would probably get the same percentage of the black vote as any other Republican, maybe 3% more tops.

Trump does (did?) have some “black cred” but was never going to win more than 5% of blacks vs. Obama no matter what.

When an ethnic group votes 85 percent on ethnic grounds, isn’t that racism?

How much of the black vote is there to lose? Ninety-six percent voted for Obama in the last election.

I guess you can add the racist Henry Louis Gates to the list of Obama Supporters who are on the attack campaign against Trump

So many of Soros boys on here yesterday attacking Trump with the “Trump-Soros” stuff (anyone who voted for McCain or Obama in 2008 voted for a Soros candidate).

I guess the Phony-Left is worn out...now they got the lunatic “Lets Drink A Beer” fringe to do some Trump-hate work

The Repubs will win or lose based on their ability to get THEIR base to be enthused enough to show up and vote. Pandering to Obama’s base will get minimal response, and lose the Repub base’s enthusiasm. Best to not even try.

100% Correct

The GOP needs to stop going after minorities (especially Hispanics with Illegal Alien Amnesty) and concentrate on their base

And now the GOP is doing that with the Birther issue.

Its like the GOP is already throwing the election to Obama
