Never say never. This America today is, after all, the United States of American Idol. The land of Oprah, Dr. Oz, and Charlie Rangel. A decidedly unserious nation.
;-)
(This has been decidedly unserious reply.)
I think his business instincts sense a con.
Bingo!
Helps in quickly deciding who to take seriously
and who not to.
I think Donald is serious about being elected, but I agree that right now that doesn’t matter.
Just take the damn fight to Obama. As Rush has pointed out, they aren’t nearly as tough as they portray themselves, and Donald can pull their masks off and stomp on them.
Trump is easily smart enough to be president as is Sarah Palin, but like Sarah now, he is way too smart to seriously run for president.
to the extent he can be the lightning rod during the primaries, more power to him ... as the nominee? not so much.
Proves that the vast majority of Rs are capons and gutless cowards. The MSM already hates them, that's not why they shut up. Maybe part of the reason, but if they fear the MSM so much that they're gutless cowards, they're worthless trash.
I think Donald is serious when he says he loves Ameica and wants it to be great again.
I think he’ll make real, and personal, scrifices to make that happen. Even though I think he will, it doesn’t neccesarily mean he’ll run.
Persactly!
Exactly. Hundreds of scammers have probably tried to scam him in his career.... and I’m sure he has done a whole bunch of “marginal” deals himself.
Trump can smell the con..... and is not afraid to say it.
He’s Henry Gondorf with a big heart and a strong patriotic streak. :)
Occam's razor disagrees.
Trump's an arrogant rich guy who has delusions of grandeur. He's not doing a 'job' for Obama, Soros, Hillary or the Easter Bunny. He wants to sit in the big chair, and he has the means and opportunity to do it. We can project our hopes and fears on to him all day long, but there's no need to puzzle over this one. It's clear as can be.
He's a fame-hungry opportunist, and opportunity is knocking. Ain't no more complicated than that.
Now, where could that support be coming from? It doesn't look like it's the Illegal, since Trump's really pounding him and pressuring the pubbies to do the same. If what he's doing really angers the other Dems in NYC, they don't seem to be saying too much and definitely don't seem to be trying to retaliate against him economically, something they could readily do through building permits, environmental permits, etc.
That leads me to believe there are a lot of Dems, particularly the Clintons, who are out to get the Illegal and are using the Donald as their willing front man. He's perfect because he speaks with a loud voice and, by running as a pubbie, diverts all attention from the Clintons. That's essential for the Witch, who can't have her fingerprints on a takedown of the Illegal lest she lose black support. I also suspect the Trump run is being allowed because many Dems are horrified about the 2010 election’s results, blame the Illegal, and want him gone but see no way to do it other than through Trump's indirect, entirely deniable attack.
;-)
Not a bad conspiracy theory, except that it's too good. By that, I mean, what's to stop Trump from becoming president himself? He can hammer at Obama all day long. It will damage Obama, but it won't dislodge him from the Democrat incumbency.
At some point, Hillary will have to step forward and attempt to seize the nomination in a hostile manner. That's a *huge* leap. There's no way that move won't turn messy. Hillary could easily wind up with Trump as a highly popular Republican nominee, and herself badly damaged by a primary battle against a seated incumbent President.
Whether she succeeds or fails, Obama and his fanatics will not go quietly into the night. If Hillary 'turns traitor', and the DNC vote splits, the fallout will be cataclysmic. It could easily tip the election to the Republicans. It will almost certainly destroy her chances for 2016, which are hers for the taking now.
All the while, her floppy haired co-conspirator could very plausibly waltz past the DNC bloodbath and become the President. Why would an arrogant, ambitious man polling well feel obliged to honor any agreement while his opponents are self destructing?
With one glaring difference you conveniently omitted.
Jesse never even came close to lead in national polls.
The management style of knowing how to pick capable people for a job, and knowing how to delegate responsibilities to those capable people, that management style works everywhere it's tried. Actually, it probably the only style that can work in a job as complex as the US presidency.
Then it's matter patience and having reasonable expectations considering the realities one is dealing with, and having feedback mechanism to assess progress.
This dude has said nothing convincing that supports a notion that Trump could not function in the presidency.
You got that pretty well analyzed. If Hillary primaries Obama, it is all over for the democrats in 2012.
You are almost correct. Ego has a lot to do with it. But I think LEGACY might be even bigger factor.
Donald has more money than 99.999% of Americans He owns fantastic golf resorts and loves golf, and I do to so I know how he enjoys his magnificent courses. He has a trophy wife. He has fame. Even the media critters like this guy. And he has reached mid-60’s, a time when most people start thinking about the legacy they will leave behind. So what is missing in Donald’s life?
L E G A C Y! And only way he can achieve a crowning legacy is sit in the biggest and most powerful chair.
