Atlas Shrugged is a hit in spite of the bitter venom spewed by the critics. It is performing way over expectations. It was released on only 299 screens compared to the normal 2500+ for a Major studio release. On Friday it took in an estimated $683,000 or $2,280 per screen making it #13 overall, but if you look again. $2,280/screen is only beaten by "Scream 4" and "Rio" ranking it #3 by theater shown in spite of the bile.

On Rotten Tomatos the reviews are completely opposite of the audience. Critics - 10% fresh Audience - 85% fresh. This movie is doing great considering the $10 million dollar budget and every hurdle thrown at them.

If this was some artzy fartzy or semi-pornographic exploration of the dark side of humanity it would be hailed as the rising star of the weekend and the box office surprise of the year. Instead, we will just hear sniping and griping. And those who see it will still enjoy it just the same.

If you think I am kidding, the critics are howling about how suprising "The Conspirator" was this weekend because it "did so well" in limited release at $1,542/screen. Uh.. guys.. did you miss something????

Can you Imagine the DVD and Blu-ray sales for this movie? I normally buy ZERO per year. For Part 1 I expect to buy as many as 10 and give them away to friends and relatives.

The DVD sales for Atlas Shrugged will be huge.
