Sounding increasingly like a candidate, Donald Trump repeatedly told a raucous tea party crowd today he has the qualities needed in the White House and the conservative ideals necessary to seal the Republican nomination should he decide to run.
Trump struck familiar themes and talked about his own business acumen in his speech to hundreds gathered at a park here, where his name festooned signs, buttons and T-shirts of supporters. The real estate mogul even talked about the type of people he'd have serve as diplomats and said he was looking forward to releasing his financial disclosures.
"Most very successful people, the kind of people that we need running our country, don't want to be scrutinized and abused," he said. "This is the kind of person that this country must have right now."
He derided President Barack Obama, calling him the worst to occupy the White House in history. He again questioned whether the president was born in the U.S., even though the fact has been affirmed by officials in Hawaii, where Obama was born. And he maligned China, saying the U.S. should take control of Iraqi oil and described American infrastructure as third world.
Trump ticked through a number of issues seen as bedrocks for conservative candidates, saying he is anti-abortion, against gun control and wants to repeal Obama's health care law. Throughout the speech, he portrayed the U.S. as a nation in decline and himself as its potential savior.

I miss that little gif we used to post of banging a head on a brick wall.
Yikes, hope it doesn’t come to that!
I know what you mean though.
I agree, Republicans will win both.
But turning this country away from socialism will take a trifecta. We need a supermajority in the senate.
And we need a conservative in the White House, not just a northeastern RINO like Trump, who reminds me of Bloomberg.
Best to give up on this one, though. Your head is too valuable. :)
“WHY?? Because in the end ,he is tied to whatever happens here,Question, Back why the animosity towards someone who is fighting our common mortal enemy? Too me that is helping the Democrats!
To me, donating to Harry Reid, Schumer, Wiener, Emanual, all during the last couple of years, is helping the Democrats.
To me, somebody who wanted Kerry over Bush and somebody who wanted Hillary as president is helping the Democrats.
The fact that I have to point out such an obvious thing on FreeRepublic, I find astonishing.”
Brain Surgeon You ever do BIG business in NY City?? That should answer your tirade. You do not get it do you??????????? The Idea is to WIN WIN! Because If Obama gets another term we are done! Still with me?understand what I posted? NOW If we control both houses, I do not see Trump doing anything but follow the play book and keeping his word.
Now you're sounding like me. LOL
I’ve only been here ten years. It’s the longest I’ve ever been in one place in my adult life. It gets depressing when it takes one longer to drive OUT of FL than it takes to drive from Boston to Buffalo, and the scenery is much better. The highest point in Palm Beach County is a landfill.
OK, so let's say he beats Obama.
Now, tell us what a pro-choice, pro-gun control president who is a classic NE liberal squish, and who has driven companies into bankruptcy and traded in wives the way some trade in cars would do for conservatism. After all, this IS a conservative website, even though a few of the posters here do stray off the ranch in starry-eyed pursuit of the stalking horse du jour.
I think I may re-read ‘Liberty and Tyranny’ by Mark Levin after doing my taxes tonight.
You must be easily fooled.
And, yes, I am easily fooled...but isn't Obama the Dragon?
Well one of them has bad hair.
“...we will have both houses with any luck.”
I agree, Republicans will win both.
But turning this country away from socialism will take a trifecta. We need a supermajority in the senate.
And we need a conservative in the White House, not just a northeastern RINO like Trump, who reminds me of Bloomberg.”
OK Now tell me who can win against Obama??
Good grief... an egomaniac with a bad comb-over. He’s going to split the conservative base, but that’s about all he’ll accomplish.
And the lame media "think" Trump is in good company
It’s too bad the dullards in AZ don’t see McPain as we know him.
Sorry, the idea is to promote conservatism while winning. We've seen where the WIN WIN mentality has taken us.
Was that a sentence before you typed it out? If it was, there was a tragic mishap somewhere along the way.
I’m not kidding - I would vote for mubarak gadafi over obama in E2012. My support for trump is only to that end. Am I happy about it? No! Sarah Bachmann or bachmann west would be my first choice - but so far I don’t see those two combos winning. Nothing against them, but the general idiot public who trump appeals to.
I know what the deal is, and to me getting rid of obama is my first and foremost goal.
Well, I’ve been a solid across the board conservative for more decades than most freepers have been alive, so that if you agree with my statement, I’d say YOU are sounding like ME. :)
“”READ carefully !!!what I said was Trump can win! which is Kinda important Right, BOT?
OK, so let’s say he beats Obama.
