Trump lashes out at George W. Bush and Obama By: CNN Political Producer Shannon Travis

Palm Beach, Florida (CNN) – Donald Trump has more harsh criticism for one of the most recognizable men in the world: George W. Bush.

In a display of bipartisan bashing, Trump lashed out at the nation's 43rd president as he criticized the 44th.

"George Bush gave us Barack Obama. If it weren't for George Bush, we wouldn't have Barack Obama," Trump said on Friday. "So I'm not thrilled with George Bush."

The billionaire real estate mogul made the comments at his famed Palm Beach estate Mar-a-Lago that sits on 20 acres and boasts 126 rooms. The star of NBC's "The Apprentice" spoke to reporters in a hastily arranged news conference moments before a posh, poolside party at the estate and hours before he was to speak at a Tea Party rally.

Trump was pressed to explain his comments.

"Because he[Bush] didn't have a great presidency, especially at the end. And because of his actions, and because of his aura, it was very tough for a Republican to win," Trump said. "And in all fairness to John McCain and to Sarah Palin, I think it would have been very, very tough for anybody – for Abraham Lincoln – to win after having followed George Bush."

I love Bush until around 06 or so when he seemed to just give up.

What a strange coincidence...that was about the time Pelosi began her Bash Bush campaign. She would make the most ridiculous claims about the Bush administration, and the press would repeat them, and the left would believe them. (Has Gitmo closed yet?)

And the McCain campaign made the regretful decision to distance themselves from the Bush administration, which left them nothing to run on. The Bush administration was guilty of not defending so many of their policies and decisions, but it was McCain who gave us Obama...he ran the worst campaign since Bob Dole. The only thing that could have made it worse was if he had followed his instincts and chosen Lieberman as his running mate.

The more Trump talks, the more he reveals how little he understands politics.

“I voted Bush only because of fear of Gore and Kerry”

Ditto.

“But are you for any of the Bush big government creations I list?”

Not a damned one.

“If it comes down to Obama and another GOP designated Loser I will probably vote for the RINO again.”

I am voting for the most conservative, honest person in the primary. Then, when that person loses because that kind of crap no longer flies in G.O.P politics, I’ll vote in the general for anyone but Obama.

“Here are my major criticisms of Bush: amnesty, perscription drugs, Fannie/Freddie bailout and TARP.”

If under amnesty you include his criticisms of the Minutemen and any attempt to guard America’s borders then I agree with your post 100%

Oh, and this doesn’t mean that Trump is not a dick, it just means that he is a useful dick.

But this is smart politicking by The Donald

Perhaps. BUT is that what he's doing when he pushes for Obama's birth certificate? If he's willing to spout such things to get independents and Democrats, for me that brings into question everything else he says, too.

How many freepers were calling on Bush to be impeached for telling lies about the Iraq War?

^^ Can’t argue with that one.

I voted Republican in 2010 for the first time, and that was only because the party had seemed to end its Bush era love affair with illegal aliens, although I later found out that I had been wrong on that point.

"He lied. He got us into the war with lies," Trump said. And I mean - look at the trouble Bill Clinton got into with something that was totally unimportant. And they tried to impeach him, which was nonsense. And yet Bush got us into this horrible war with lies, by lying, by saying they had weapons of mass destruction, by saying all sorts of things that turned out not to be true."

One thing that needs to be remembered is that the MSM isn’t going to bring up any Republican’s negatives until it is too late to pick someone else. Thats when all their skeletons come out. All the statements he has made that will demoralize our side won’t be “remembered” until he gets the nomination. And if he runs as an independent, they never will.

“George Bush gave us Barack Obama. If it weren't for George Bush, we wouldn't have Barack Obama,”

How many Trump like FReeepers have said this same thing over and over again I cannot even begin to count? It's disgusting. Enough said.

You didn't ask me, but I'll answer anyway...

Conservatives generally fall into one of two categories. Either the WMD's were moved, or the intelligence was faulty. But conservatives believe Bush was being truthful.

Insane leftists were the only ones who believed Bush purposely lied to hide his true motive for getting us into Iraq. (Oil, revenge for Daddy, etc.)

You have to take Trump at his word to believe he is suddenly a conservative. So far, there isn't much evidence to support him being one. He seems more like a Bloomberg Republican.

As are the so called front runners on the Republican side. They are milquetoast wusses. And worse than that they are boring and will never capture the imagination of the voters. RomneyCare, might as well keeep Obama. Pawlenty, couldn't even fend off Franken much less Obama.
