Obama predicts: 'American people will feel that I deserve a second term' By Michael O'Brien - 04/15/11 02:59 PM ET

President Obama said Friday that he's convinced that voters will come to see him as the candidate best prepared to serve as president by next fall's elections.

The president said he thinks that he can make the case for a second term, though he acknowledged that the state of the economy could be his biggest hurdle to clear in winning reelection.

"I think the economy's going to continue to improve, and I think I'm going to be able to make an effective case that ... I am the person who is best prepared to finish the job so that we are on track to succeed in the 21st century," Obama said in a video interview this morning with The Associated Press.

"I think I can make that case, and I think that, in the debates that take place over the next 18 months, the American people will feel that I deserve a second term," Obama added.

The president launched his campaign earlier this month by filing paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to formally indicate he would seek a second term. Obama advanced that effort with a trio of fundraisers last night in his adoptive hometown of Chicago, the city where his reelection effort will be headquartered.

Obama enjoys an early advantage over most of the Republicans vying for the nomination to challenge him in 2012, but polls suggest that the president doesn't enjoy broad support on the issue he says is most important: the economy. In a poll released on Friday, Gallup found Obama's approval rating stood at 41 percent, an all time low. Gallup said the figure was fueled by economic dissatisfaction.

"I think that my biggest concern, when it comes to reelection, is my biggest concern as president of the United States, which is our economy moving fast enough to give people the kind of relief that they need," Obama said.

As for the biggest strength Obama believes he has heading into 2012? He said it was his "confidence in the American people."

Obama's team is very good at marketing a perception, that is why they want a large amount of money. This will allow them to buy up advertising in key markets. Hire fake pro-Obama crowds and drive homeless to the polls.

They market to the masses, truth is what they make the perception to be. Trump understands this, seems the only one right now to cut through it.

If HE wants to expedite the destruction of our Nation because of past and present sins of a people that have turned away from HIM - then we'll get the leaders we deserve. People like the current occupants of the White House and Congress. If the people repent, HE'll also give us the leaders we deserve - leaders that fear God.

NEWS FLASH

The united States is not Old Testament Israel. Everything you just said above is blasphemy.

since he does not believe in real world economics, he apparently has no clue as to how they can end a politician’s career

“American people will feel that I deserve a second term”

No, 0...you got “second term” confused with “first sentence”. I hope it’ll be 20+ years...

The undocumented fraud known these years as the Imam Obama
probably deserves a second term in prison with Pelosi.

Altered voting certificates prepared by Ms. Pelosi (D, Syria? CA? Samoa?)
for the DOJ-approved election fraud wrought by the DNC
ignored by the agonadal Congress, covered up by EU-fawning SCOTUS,
against the people of the United States of America.

Exhibit 1: (the original, but discarded) states:
”THIS IS TO CERTIFY that at the National Convention of the Democrat Party of the
United States of America, held in Denver, Colorado on August 25 though 28, 2008, the
following were duly nominated as candidates of said Party for President and Vice
President of the United States respectively and that the following candidates for President
and Vice President of the United States are legally qualified to serve under the provisions
of the United States Constitution:”

Exhibit 2: specifically leaves out the qualifying requirement:
”THIS IS TO CERTIFY that at the National Convention of the Democrat Party of the
United States of America, held in Denver, Colorado on August 25 though 28, 2008, the
following were duly nominated as candidates of said Party for President and Vice
President of the United States respectively:”

I disagree and believe we do get the “leaders” we deserve.

Did the united States "deserve" Reagan after Carter and then Clinton? What sort of fickle wind determines what we "deserve"? Subjective Platitudes don't make for good theology.

As for the blasphemy part, the poster claimed that the act of repentance is for determining one's worthiness of receiving good government. That lie will send a person to Hell. Repentance is a response to spiritual regeneration and is required for salvation which brings glory to God.

You think God is happy with the United States of America?

Another absurd proposition based in subjective anthropocentric platitudes. Define "happy" in a theological context, please site examples of what makes God "happy", as if an omniscient God outside time can somehow have mood swings.

Sodom and Gomorrah were pretty wretched places, yet for the sake of a handful of righteous men, God would stay His hand of judgment. Contrast that real example with the poster's (and your) baseless hypothetical.

What you are suggesting is that God is "happy" with slavery because the American Revolution occurred after several centuries of slavery, and we ended up with the likes of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, both men who are still considered our greatest leaders who also had slaves. Do you recommend that we chain up blacks and resume whipping them into productivity in order to force God to be "happy" again and bless us with another George Washington?

Since the person I was responding to thinks the united States is an extension of and therefore receives the exact same relationship with God as did OT Israel, perhaps you can explain how Israel/Judea managed to "deserve" King David and Solomon. Then explain how, out of the blue, they got the righteous Josiah after generations of some of the most wicked rulers. When Josiah came to power, Israel was arguably at its most wicked state of existence.

Sorry to let facts and reason interfere in a good old-fashioned Hate America First fest. I jumped in because it offends my sensibilities to think that some would say God is "happy" with certain levels of sin, but then turns "unhappy" at another level. God's Holiness is not for negotiation. A&E got punted out of the Garden for eating fruit from the wrong tree, yet just NOW you think God has swung from "happy" to "unhappy" ? Really?

Furthermore, the whole idea that God sends down random lightening bolts of judgment on nations denies the fundamental doctrines of Redemption, where God's wrath is stored up until the Last Day. I know people like you want to see all American suffer for someone else sins, but don't project that dysfunction on to a Holy God, especially if you are also going to wander around saying "God is Love" and "Jesus loves You" to even the most hardened reprobate.

Why would he get a second term when he has not yet been convicted of corruption and served a first term?
