Put a small, 12-tube Concentric Canister Launcher System (follow-on to the MK 41 VLS) with the newest version of the SM-2, Sea Sparrow and Tomahawk and Harpoon missiles on this thing...tied into the Battle Group Aegis fire control and radar...and you have one formidable little frigate.
4,500 tons is the perfect size for the new generation of very, very effective sea control ships.
Add 100 of the newest air-breathing subs in the 2,500 ton class and you have an unbeatable navy.
Of course, we'd have to preserve the major combatants we have in place now for that to be true.

Place an order for 100 ships as described above and you would likely buy them for $250mil a piece.
It's likely the crew would be around 70 men with modern systems...30 knots...4,000 nautical mile range without refueling.
A perfect platform for dozens of different roles.

The question is only: do you want an unbeatable navy in the hands of Kaliph Obama?
