A Third Party is NOT the Answer

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This is Jason in Atlanta. Great to have you on the program, sir. You are up first.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. It's an honor to talk to you, man.

RUSH: Thanks.

CALLER: Hey listen, man, I am outraged with Boehner and I'm outraged with this old guard Republican. I mean, I'm telling you, I'm livid to the point I e-mailed Boehner yesterday and told him he would never get a dime from me again. I'll never support the Republican Party again.

RUSH: Well --

CALLER: These guys... Boehner was on Hannity yesterday, Rush, saying he fought like a dog for this $38 billion. Fought like a dog. And now we're finding out that it's not even in the billions, we're talking millions.

RUSH: Yeah. Yeah.

CALLER: And I'm trying to figure out at what point, Rush, do we say this party's rotgut from the inside and we've gotta break from it, maybe get behind the Tea Party, a third party. Maybe get behind the FairTax, do something that's gonna make a difference.

RUSH: You don't want a third party. What we want to do is (ah, I'm not particularly crazy about the phrase, but) "take over" the Republican Party. Look, I know John Boehner. I played golf with John Boehner. He's a fine man. I want everybody to know that. It's unfortunate that he's being (sighs) not "slurred," but he's coming in for it. I mean, he's getting his share of criticism as events unfold and information is gleaned. He's a fine man, folks. He's what we would all say in the common parlance, is a good guy. I think that different forms of leadership. You got caretaker, you have aggressive. In this case, I don't know for certain what the objective of the leadership is.

Best I can tell, they don't really think they've won anything. If you had to nail me down, if you had to pin me down to try to get me to explain this -- my wild guess would be that if we could get in their heads -- they don't think they've won anything yet, and they're not gonna act like it. When Boehner says we are, what, "one half of one-third," that's not the kind of talk you get from people who think they've won something. You and I think we had a shellacking win in November. But they don't. They don't think they won anything, yet. Plus there's in natural fear. I've explained it. I don't have time to go into it again. There's this natural fear of Democrats, the media, and Obama specifically in the Beltway.

A third party is Baraq’s only hope for re-election.

If the Republican nominee is a conservative, Soros will fund a fake RINO third party and the MSM will go into full bore ecstasy over that candidate.

If the Republican nominee is a RINO, there will be a Tea Party candidate. I expect Dems to go heavy for Romney in open primary states as payback for Op Chaos.

Despite $5 gasoline, $1.5 trillion annual deficits, 10% unemployment, and surging consumer prices, Baraq can win a Clintonian plurality in a 3-way race.

“Plus there’s in natural fear. I’ve explained it. I don’t have time to go into it again. There’s this natural fear of Democrats, the media, and Obama specifically in the Beltway.”

Dems, Obama and the MSM are scarier than the Tea Partiers, obviously. No other way could have $101B in cuts (which were the compromise in my eyes, and a lopsided one in the Dems favor at that) gone down to $61B, to $38B, to “Hey, dude. Where’s the beef?”

They are focused on the wrong things, the bottom line, as they always have been, which is why they get bogged down in the same old politics. Our problems aren’t just about money and when one goes just to trim around the edges, what and where to cut is rather arbitrary and can be attacked from any side. There has to be some underlying principle to the cuts that clearly identifies immediate opportunities, and those that can be dealt with over a longer term plan — but there always has to be a ‘why’ associated with each.

But these guys don’t seem to know the ‘why’ in order to be able to appropriately defend the cuts or present alternative funding channels besides the Federal gov’t. I think the 10th amendment is a good place to start forming a plan to phase all social programs as practical to state authority.

And of course the real shocker is that the Contract they presented as an agenda in election season had some of these points built right in, or at least a start down that path. It’s only been 4 months and that document they presented is no better than toilet paper.

“It’s time for the Tea Party to take over the Republican Party.”

That process is already underway, but will ocur only in districts which chose it, over the dem or the establishment Republican.

Not all TP candidates are very good, and not all district want it.

The GOP establishment is powerful. In 1994/95 I worked against the GOP establishment in Orange County California concerning the bankruptcy, the sales tax increase, etc.

The establishment GOP wanted to increase taxes, but the voters said NO.

I was Tea Party before there was a Tea Party, in the 5th most populous county in the USA. About fiscal issues.

You win some, but you lose some too. I worked hard, got some recognition and letters published, we won, but my establishment GOP “friends” immediately shunned me.

At the end of such a season, the hotheads just go home and stew or drink etc. The effective people will shake hands, and be back tomorrow to work again.

What Boehner is faced with is extremely difficult, and I give him a lot of credit.

I take this oppertunity to remind everyone that the Republican Party was the Third Party at one time.

Every time we have a chance to get rid of Rinos in the republican party, the people re-elect them., i.e. John McCain.

How is a third party going to help?

If Boehner is afraid of the democrats and the media he should step down and let someone else take charge. We don't want leaders who are too scared to stand up for conservative values. It irritates me when republicans kiss the asses of democrats who just spit in their face.

MAY OR MAY NOT BE THE ANSWER BUT THE CURRENT ‘2’ PARTY SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING. IT IS REALLY A ‘1’ PARTY SYSTEM WITH A MINOR DIFFERENCE ONCE IN A WHILE.

It sucks that Obama and the 'rats will be the beneficiaries of the Republican abdication of responsibility, but how long can you keep rewarding incompetence and expect to get better results?

They still have a biscuit over a year to show us they've grown a spine, or at least a brain stem - but with Romney and Hucklebee leading the pack I'm not holding my breath.

Fine, so to hell with the republicans, don’t vote for them, do not support them, if they don’t walk the walk they don’t deserve your vote and support. That is what you are saying isn’t it.

“Rush played a tape of none other than Nancy Pelosi on yesterday’s show, and she said the same thing, confirming what a lot of people think, i.e., that there is no difference. She encouraged the GOP to get rid of the Tea Pary so the ‘rats and GOP could be on the same page.”

That’s not what she said and her remarks were quite clear. She said she wants the republicans to change so there will be no differences between the parties. That’s a far cry from saying that there currently are no differences between the parties.

Hey Rushbo, maybe if your party wasn't a stinking dead carcass you wouldn't have to worry about it.

A coward who will say there is never time for a third party is one who will not step up when there is need to go beyond the ballot box.

This country was not founded by such men, nor have they maintained it.

Not only do the left not respect such men, neither do much of the right. Not even if they post on Free Republic.

“If the Republican nominee is a conservative, Soros will fund a fake RINO third party and the MSM will go into full bore ecstasy over that candidate.”

And far too many ‘real conservatives’ like those found on this website will outdo the MSM in it’s ‘full bore ecstasy over that candidate’. One can only hope sufficient conservatives retain enough sanity to reject that third party and prevent Obama’s second term

“That is what you are saying isn’t it.”

No, I think I said something very different from your conclusion, although there have been many times over the years when I wanted to resemble that conclusion, the last election, before Palin entered, for example.

Never again will I vote for someone because there’s an “R” after his name. See my tagline.

A Third Party is NOT the Answer

HOW dumb can you get? There's already more than a dozen parties.

Maybe he means "A 13th party is not the answer"

Wake up Rush!

I just watched McCain saying how we really need to get serious in this Libyan war. I am so grateful now that my vote lost last time. My best option last time was not to have voted, and I had no idea at the time.

Divide our forces? You got dems and rinos on one side and a few conservatives on the other. What are they going to divide?
