I am feeling pretty pessimistic about the chance of this happening without another Reagan or Goldwater appearing out of nowhere. Until then the Tea Partiers and other like-minded individuals are being played like a bunch of rubes. And the sad part is that we don’t have 10 years to waste on figuring out how to salvage any thing that resembles republican prinicples to the Republican Party. If we can’t get it done by next election cycle, it won’t matter.

That’s why if the slate of candidates for 2012 looks like garbage to me, then I am bailing to go take care of what I need to take care of on a personal basis before the doodoo from all the statism and debt really hits the fan. And we thought the Great Recession of 2008 was horrific, we haven’t seen anything yet.

Rand Paul could be that type of Goldwater figure... have you been watching his performance since being elected Senator from Kentucky?

He stands up for the TEA party all the time on the Senate floor.
