Looking her up on line, I read nothing about thhhhhhhis male/female thing -- just that she worked as a professional ballet dancer for more than 10 years. Surely, SE Cupp is not the first female writer to write under a male name. Ever heard of George Eliot? (1819-1880) ;^)

Mmmm...I am going for the ‘joke’ angle, which would work on me because I live on the left coast. During the same week I found myself reading a computer article written by an author who used their byline to explain that he/she was changing gender (the picture attached to the blurb showed that she had many challenges ‘passing’ for female), my co-worker went from using a name that was along the lines of ‘Bambi’ to her new male name that sounded something like ‘Blade’. We were all ‘getting’ the ‘Blade’ down ok but we kept slipping on the pronoun ‘her’. She was about 5’ 2” and I guess it could have helped me make the transition if she were 5’ 10”. Its been awhile and I still botch the pronoun. So when I came across the Daily Caller joke it went right over my head - I’d seen enough at work not to be surprised.

Looking at the ‘she was’ and she were’ I just wrote, I can see I still have a ways to go. It’s ‘he’ now. He was about 5’ 2”.
