If BHO, Sr. had given Aryan as his race, it would not affect Obama's eligibility.

Also, consider someone attempting a deception would have avoided raising eyebrows. In this case, that would have meant putting Negro as the race. However, all accounts suggest BHO, Sr. was proud of his Kenyan nationality and African origin and probably did not want to be lumped in with descendents of those his own forefathers may well have sold into slavery.

Any person can self-declare.
So someone born a white Afrikaner who gained US citizenship can self-declare “african-american” ;-)
