How can they deny someone the right to vote simply because they have died?

Whoops ... there goes the Democratic vote margin for 2012.
That was my first thought, too. Great minds think alike. Most state margins to force a recount are set at nice, round numbers like 1000 or 5000. 18k worth of dead folk voting is more than enough to get past that margin and ensure a lib victory.

I would hope that the next analysis was of those on the Dead List who happened to have voted whilst dead. I just looked up Ohio voting law, and Ohio has a Voter ID requirement. Therefore, if a dead person is on the list of people who showed up and voted, then either they presented fake ID in the name of the dead person, or (more likely) the poll worker whose job it is to check ID is a co-conspirator.
There should be criminal investigations of any "dead voter" incidents.

Considering the number of deaths each year in Ohio that number isn’t very high.

This is the topic that state level GOP should be focusing 100%:
Dead people registered.
Temporary registrations, by college kids or campaign activists who “move” to the state for few days
Mental patients or disabled people transported to polls and “helped” to vote
Double-voting across state lines (e.g. somebody registered and possibly voting in NY votes also in OH)
Outright fraud by urban centers where election workers are Black Panther activists (103% turnout etc)
Automatic 20 year prison sentence for anybody involved with this. Trump might push for the issue, but most GOP candidates just think this is “divisive issue” or “distraction”.

The secretary is asking county elections boards to purge those who are deceased from the statewide voter database. The county elections boards have responded, "No, thanks, but we appreciate your asking!"

I just think it is very unfair that dead people can vote multiple times.

They don’t even have to be dead.
There was video from the ‘08 election where a kid was bragging about having voted eight times.
The reporter asked him if he knew that was illegal, the kid pretty much didn’t care.
