Logan Varnadoe, a two-year-old boy from Bonaire, is quickly becoming known around the country. [THANKS TO FREEPERS AND DRUDGE!]
As we reported on Monday, Logan's cousin Chelsea Edwards was one of three girls robbed while selling lemonade to raise money for him.
Tuesday, as police made a second arrest in the robbery, the family says they realized an outpouring of support they never imagined.
"We've got people from all over the country calling us," says April Varnadoe, Logan's mother.
"It's been unbelievable. It's been wonderful."
Varnadoe says her son has spent most of his young life in the hospital.
Feeding tubes are a way of life for him, as are surgeries -- Logan has gone through more of those than birthdays.
"He's had 10 surgeries," Varnadoe says, counting the surgical scars on her son's stomach.
Logan was born partially blind and deaf, and just recently, doctors discovered he also had a rare intestinal disease that would take their family to Cincinnati for treatment.
"There's a big possibility we're going to have to go back and forth," Varnadoe says.
"It's a very rare, complicated condition."
Her niece Chelsea's lemonade sales were just one way the family was raising money to take off work and make the trip.
Varnadoe never thought two thieves making off with their cash would be a blessing in disguise.
Within twelve hours of her son's story airing on television, Varnadoe says the family received more than $3,000 through their donation website, and the number keeps climbing. [Poster's note: having had a sick child in our family, $3,000.00 is just not enough.]
She says the money will go far in keeping her and her husband by Logan's side as he undergoes numerous tests and treatments.
"I've had people calling me left and right wanting to donate-- even if it's five dollars or ten dollars and twenty dollars," Varnadoe says, choking up.
"You know they're thinking about my son."
The family leaves for Ohio Wednesday.

Should read: “I steal $ from little girls who collect money for their disabled and sick family members!"
