Very good post. Let’s face it — government really is nothing more than an “industry” these days. Nothing gets produced except paperwork and regulations, but it costs a lot of money nonetheless.
Most of these lunches will be “free” or reduced price so it really is double dipping- taxpayers pay for the food stamps based on meals, then taxpayers pay for school breakfast/lunch for the same kids.
Wonder what is the name of the company that will supply food to Chicago Public Schools ?and how much money do they get?.
Also what Chicago hack is related to the owner?,I’m sure the media will inform us on all the questions asked. /s
exactly right
the parents get their full food stamp amount PLUS the kids are getting 2 free meals , in most districts even in the summer
so say that is $5.00 a day a kid for 5 days ( in some places even on Sat) a week for even say 50 weeks .
That is over $1200 a year. and the parent or parents still get the full amount on food stamps which averages $231 per month or $2800 a year.
There are 75 million school kids in country, so let’s say just 35% get free meals( approx 26 million), that costs Taxpayers over 30 BILLION
which is ok except the parents are also getting federal money to feed their kids and that food stamp amount for the 26 million kids is over 72 Billion
Something called Chartwells-Thompson.
