Worthless 'security': TSA wastes our time, money

Did you hear about al Qaeda's recent attack at Newark Airport?

Neither did I.

Yet the Transportation Security Administration is worried about its poor performance there -- so worried that it isn't even blaming passengers or congressional stinginess, as it usually does. "The performance of the TSA here at Newark Liberty International Airport has been on a gradual decline," said an internal report obtained by the Star-Ledger last week. Indeed, its failings have "produced a lack of faith in our ability to provide world-class security."

But not a single terrorist has exploited that "decline" -- so how necessary is the TSA?

Of course, terrorists could strike, at Newark or anywhere else -- as could a meteor or tsunami. And that possibility is what keeps the TSA groping 6-year-old girls as though they're serial murderers entering a maximum-security prison.

The TSA, you see, operates on a "zero-risk" philosophy: It doesn't evaluate threats based on their probabilities but treats all as equally likely. So, while only three people in aviation history have tried to bring down planes with explosives concealed in their shoes -- and none succeeded -- the TSA acts as if all footwear could blow.

This is a colossal waste. It's as if you decided to protect your home from all risk of burglary. You install an alarm -- and replace your door with one from a concrete bunker and 15 locks, cover your windows with cement, station sharpshooters on the roof 24/7 to deter thieves arriving by helicopter and reinforce the house's foundations to thwart tunnelers

When I was in the Newark airport I saw a family of towel heads taking photos of the NYC skyline from the huge window in the terminal.

I thought to myself, “wow that is a good picture”

After they left I put my bag down and grabbed my camera and also took a picture of my favorite city’s skyline. Just after I clicked a picture an arab looking TSA agent came to me and told me:

“No pictures allowed! Put that camera away and move on now and I’ll pretend I saw nothing.” he demanded.

I went through Newark with all my toiletries in my bag.

In Green Bay no less, they made me get rid of everything or put it in a plastic bag. When I asked why a plastic bag, they all looked at each other.

The TSA will have to explain why you could bring toiletries on a plane if you put them in plastic first when it will go in a toiletry bag anyway.

That’s why we pay them the big bucks. /s

Yup, the first thing that came to my mind when that happened was the scene in airplane.

They allowed the arabs with machine guns in hand pass though seciry, no questions and then when the nun passes through they grab her and start frisking.

“TSA wastes our time and money.”

Now, remove the letters TSA and paste in the initials of pretty much any government agency.

The Founding Fathers saw it coming and tried to avert it with constitutional insights and protections, but there’s no such thing as a fool-proof system, and the United States, like pretty much every place in the world, is a nation of fools.

Which, of course, does nothing to excuse the TSA, which is setting new benchmarks for pointless silliness and egregious mischief.

The TSA is a worthless agency filled with workers who could not make the cut anywhere else in the working world. It was staffed in a hurry with little attention for criminal records or basic qualifications. The was absolutely no reason to create another armed federal law enforcement agency when we already at least twenty or more. It is a make work program, at best, with a socialist agenda and a big brother attitude. It should be dissolved, the employees given competency tests, and any of the few who actually pass should be absorbed into the FBI.

Worthless 'security': TSA wastes our time, money

The illusion of security. I did a trip to Brazil a couple of months ago. Coming back the "security" was an absolute joke. The flight attendants questioned me briefly about my carry on bag, but otherwise, aside from passing through a magnetometer, nothing. Same thing when I reached Charlotte at 5:30AM. Customs and Immigration both were a joke. I had to clear TSA before I boarded my final leg to KCHA. I did see a grandmother in a wheelchair and a 4 year old traveling with her being subjected to "enhanced security". Meanwhile 5 young Arab males passed through TSA "security" without them batting an eyelash.

The TSA is not worthless if the goal has been to fleece the American people and to train them to act like subservient peons in a third world police state. If that is the case then the TSA has been a stunning success.

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner folks.

We've been trained to submit like the sheeple we are.

I've given up playing their games. Flew over the Christmas holidays and was absolutely prepared to stand my ground if they'd tried any 'enhanced' procedures.
