ZABUL, Afghanistan (April 12, 2011) – An explosion critically injured a 13 year-old boy near the village of Sinan in the Dey Chopan district of Zabul province, Afghanistan, April 7.

The boy was injured by a rocket propelled grenade from insurgent elements who were firing on Afghan and coalition forces nearby.

Afghan special operations forces, advised and assisted by coalition forces, responded to the scene and assessed the boy’s condition as urgent. The combined team provided medical care to stabilize the boy and evacuated him to a coalition medical center in the Uruzgan province for emergency care, said a coalition soldier on the mission.

The boy was able to call home and his mother was shown a photo of him recovering, after which she appeared very relieved, according to coalition forces on scene.

“The Sinan village blames insurgents for this attack,” said an Afghan Security Forces soldier who was on the scene. “They see how quickly we acted and provided care. This shows them what our intentions are and will improve our relationship with the local people.

It is a poorly worded headline.

It reads as the boy is home from the hospital after the insurgent phones attacked.

Sorry to disagree, but that place has been Moslim for centuries, sees all non-Moslims as “the unclean”, and nothing we do for them will make any difference.

In the end, they will either kill us or we will be forced by them to kill them.
