KEYWORDS: 2012; disenfranchised
Not one assembly member stood up for the CA voter. We were effectively irrelevant before and now we're to be outright disenfranchised.

The nominations will locked up by mid-April at the latest.

Californians only have a say if they pay to play.

Won’t matter in 2012, we all know who they will be voting for.

I’m all for later primaries in most states. Having them in February or March means most voters have not heard or learned much about where candidates stand on important issues. They make choices based on sound bites, how the candidate looks on TV or because they heard the name somewhere.

Early primaries also favor the candidates who have accumulated more advertising money because of wealth or they are long time politicians and have existing campaign funds. Such vote selections or established politicians are not always the best choice to run in November.

A later primary in May or June could result in a better candidate, especially running against an incumbent like Omama.

Years ago, the presidential primary was always in June of presidential election years. They moved it up earlier in recent years to try to give Calif. more of a voice in the process. Now it will be at the end and completely irrelevant again.

This whole primary system is crazy anyway. Iowa and New Hampshire will always have outsized influence if they continue to go first.
