Very old slang for Billion, I think it came from the Millard Filmore million dollar bill.

milliard = billion, in some European versions of English.

I don’t know that there has ever been any denomination above the US $100,000 bill printed.

I think it might be slang for bullion, I’ll have to
mull it over.
