NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) Police have confirmed that the latest set of bones found Monday morning at Jones Beach State Park are human remains.
Those remains, potentially those of a 9th victim, were discovered near Zachs Bay at the park, which is about a mile and a half east of the Jones Beach water tower.
Later Monday afternoon, authorities also said that a 10th set of human remains and a human skull may have been discovered at a bird sanctuary off of Ocean Parkway, CBS 2′s Jennifer McLogan reported.
Investigators expanded their search for a serial killer into Nassau County Monday after investigators recovered eight bodies on Suffolk County beaches.
Police and sanitation vehicles blocked off all traffic on Ocean Parkway. A mobile sign advised drivers of a beach search that will shut down the Parkway all day.
Wow. Whoever this is he’s got a real issue with prostitutes.
I take that way to work all the time. Easiest way to get East - West on LI during traffic as very few people are on it.
I guess that’s why this psycho decided it’d be a good place...It’s sickening to me to think of how many times I’ve driven past them...
Most serial killers do.
Unbelievable, they just keep finding more & more bodies there.
This isn’t surprising in the least. If I can remember correctly I read somewhere that the FBI has said that at any given time there are something like 10 active serial killers in the US, probably more. There are many more intermittently active serial killers than that. There’s probably been 10 times as many serial killers come and gone, since the term existed, that we’ll never know about because they got away with their crimes and were never caught. Reality can be a real b!tch sometimes.
the Daily News reports, as speculation over the weekend indicated the killer is “versed in police techniques,” and could even be law enforcement
CSI: New York
Hollywood would probably do it
Oh' wait never mind......
Not necessarily, prostitutes are about the only people that will readily get into a unknown man's car. They are simply easy prey.
Someone(s) have buried these bodies and no one saw a thing?
“Someone(s) have buried these bodies and no one saw a thing?”
The bodies weren’t really buried; they were in thickets of marshy, swampy tangling trees. When the police were searching recently, they’d be a few feet away from the rest of the team and be entirely obscured to them. It’s a barrier island - the only houses on it are near where it happened, and not even many of those, but it’s not really on the way to or from anywhere. It’s especially abandoned at night, and even more so when it’s too cold for the beach.
What’s more disturbing is that there were at least ten people missing all this time, and no investigation went anywhere until the girl who is still missing called 911 but then disappeared before the police arrived. It was in looking for her that they found the first of the others.
A police officer friend of mine told me once that they only catch the dumb ones. The more intelligent criminals rarely get caught.
How very sad.
