So conservatives are supposed to start whining now? What kind of stupid article is this, pragmatism is becoming a lost word.
A war is not won by a single battle alone, anyone (including the teapartiers) who think that the Titanic can be turned in an instant is living in fantasy land.
Keep your eye on the prize people, losing focus on stupidity does not get us where we need to be.
Balzac. It took them no time at all to bugger things up with their Sovietcare and Wrecker budgets.
I want to see Boehner up there with a mallet just as big as The Red Bitch's, and I want him to hammer into flying shards everything she did to American life.
As for the military appropriations -- since when did the House of Representatives forget how to split bills and put DoD on a separate appropriations track?
Come on, guys! Use that majority!
"Pragmatism" is code and everybody knows it -- it's a codeword for "We only fight when the Fortune 500 CEOs tell us to."
What you WANT and what we can get, will be two different things, and all your wanting to do this, or do that, or hold someones feet to the fire isn't going to change that.
Said the Yacht Club to the Tea Party.
We'll see about that.
Mental note: 40,000,000,000% federal ad-valorem tax on yachts and expensive cars and houses bigger than so big.
That is the truth, learn it, live with it.
Are you a conservative or an anarchist?
Done a lot of negotiating have you? .....and yes you can negotiate with the IRS....been there and done that!
I think there never was any serious intention of dumping PP or NPR (certainly given the fact Jay Rockefeller’s wife runs it.).
These were bargaining chips to get $40 Billion in cuts.
“$80B in savings over what was proposed” would be a cut of $180 billion, as the original republican budget called for cuts of roughly $101B. We ended up with a “cut” of roughly $40B, with the republican’ts caving on the EPA’s regulation of carbon, Obamacare, etc... while allowing themselves to be defined over the issue of Planned Parenthood. Duh, not winning.
And no, Boehner could never be Reagan or anything even closely resembling him, which was my point to begin with.
We are engaged in a life-or-death struggle for the future of this country. The democrats know this, which is why they are willing to sacrifice people to achieve the overall goal. Where did overreaching get them? It got them the collapse of the housing market. It got them Obamacare, and with it control over about 1/7th of the US economy. It got them QE 1 and 2. It got them regulation of the financial industry, ownership of the student loan industry, and partial ownership of the auto industry. It got them stimulus bailouts paid directly to unions. It’s gotten them contol of the internet, contol of the Justice Department, and control over the petroleum and coal industries. It’s about to get them inflation and it may even get them the total collapse of the US dollar.
Overreaching has gotten the enemies of America nearly everything they wanted, so when someone says “Be patient, this is a great victory, the RINOs reeeeeally have our back this time annnnd we have plenty of time to cut spending” I am compelled to disagree. We are out of time, and our representatives just showed our enemies that they can be pushed around and forced to cut deals for the sake of saving face politically. Epic fail.
I respectfully DISAGREE.
This definition of pragmatism (”We only fight when the Fortune 500 CEOs tell us to.”) is based on ignorance or emotional reaction...or a combination thereof.
The IRS actually negotiates? Who knew? I was just using a hypothetical. ;-)
LLS
“GOP” and “sellout” have appeared in the same sentence for so long that one would think dumb Republican primary voters would have figured out that all is not well in Denmark.
He’s crying because he knows that he sold out my grandbabies so he could continue to dine high on the hog!
Phuck you cry baby!
Where did you learn that? The Bob Michel Victory School? The Bob Dole School for Presidents?
You plan on being marginalized -- by the Tea Party.
No, actually, it isn't -- it's based on an appreciation pretty close to FReeper snowrip's above. He's right, the RiNO's are doing business as usual, and that isn't going to cut it in the bigs.
We're up against Leninists -- Cloward-Piven wreckers and outright Stalinists. Time to pucker up, Buttercup. When you smell the crematoria, it'll be too late.

You misunderstood what I said. Obama proposed an INCREASE of about 40 billion and the final result of the battle shows NO increase but a REDUCTION of about 40 billion, hence the 80 billion swing.
Claiming a loss because you didn’t get what you wanted is like a guy asking for a raise of $1000 per week and considering it a loser because the boss only gave him $500.
Like others here you are a all or nothing ideologue and have learned nothing from what has happened to the Libs when they employed your sort off thinking and they controlled it all.
Being pragmatic, gets further results than trying to be stubborn. Look what it did for the Democrats in the last election. THEY didn't listen, much as you are not listening now. THEY didn't do the right thing for America, much as you want to go in the right direction, dictating what you want gets you nothing.
Oh, and why not try....I mean seriously TRY to discuss your position and re-enforce it with factual data rather than ignorance and innuendo.
It makes you look like an idiot and uninformed. It makes you look like the liberals. When you have no argument, attack the person.
Tell that to the Prog wing of the Democratic Party. Look what they just accomplished -- and they may just make it stick!
Being pragmatic, gets further results than trying to be stubborn.
Listen to yourself! Starting with your conceited screenname ..... "pragmatic", I tell you again, is code for Loserville. Look back at the wreckage of all those RiNO Administrations and losing presidential campaigns going back to "Poppy" Bush's, all the fecklessness and directionlessness and trimming and corruption and access-capitalist hijinks, and lecture me about "stubborn"?
Go on, tell me what a great Republican Denny Hastert was. I dare you. You want to lecture me about "factual data rather than ignorance and innuendo"? There's your "factual data": Guys like you ran the GOP and the Congress from 1998 to 2007. Show me the "money" -- show me the triumphs!!
"Factual data" indeed. Brother, do you ever lead with your chin!
