“They seem to forget this situation didn’t happen overnight, and won’t be resolved in one swing, but piece by piece.”

You are exactly right. It has also been my experience that any BIG project is best accomplished in a series of well-planned, incremental steps.

And, make no mistake. This WILL be a major project.

When the REAL battle is over TRILLTIONs.

Reminds me of people that fight over pennies and squnader dollars.

When Zero started out with NO cuts.

Seriously, is Bob Lonsberry really stupid enough to think we were going to get a trillion dollar budget cut, when we don’t even control the Senate and the Presidency?

Is Bob Lonsberry really stupid enough to have missed the much more important point that, for the first time in living memory, the GOP actually forced the Dims to accept an outright CUT in spending, as opposed to a mere “reduction in the growth of spending”?

Yes, I see that he really IS that stupid. That’s why I don’t waste my time reading him.

Like it or not, the Dems still control the White House and Senate.

Meh. They controlled the House and Senate when Reagan was President, but Reagan carried his message directly to the people. He was unafraid, and stood for America first. Boner and the rest of the RINOs are backroom deal-making politicians.

The next two election cycles are going to see a flamethrower taken to the republican party by mainstream America. The RINOs are toast.

Frankly, I'm sick and tired of any/everyone finding defeat in a victory.

I can imagine there were SOME Green Bay Packer fans REALLY pissed off that they only beat the Steelers by 6 and not 60.

The fact is, BO's final FY 2011 budget was $78B or so LESS than he wanted. Remember, he only gets to PROPOSE a budget. The failing Democrats, under Nasty Pelozi and Dingy Hairy never passed anything.

So essentially, this was a Republican win--BO got LESS than he asked for.

Could it have been better? Hell yes. But let's stop the bee-otching, okay? Take a win and move on to the next battle.

Well said my friend. It seems as though we have a bunch of FReepers that really don’t understand how negotiations work...but of course they probably have never negotiated anything other than a car or maybe a house. In other words they would “beach if they were hung with a new rope” as the old saying goes. Frankly I get tired of their senseless rants!

Then the republicans should have made the dims vote to destroy America's economy and then spent up until the next election, explaining to every idiot in America, what it was that they did and what pain it is causing and will cause... but they took the cowards path.

While like most others, I want and expect more, I think the Republicans played it pretty well. The only thing really surprising me so far about the new divided government is that Reid has been able to keep the dem caucus in lock step. I expected some of those facing re-election in 2012 to defect. Have to think this has something to do with Reid not doing anything with HR-1.

I think the debate over HR-1 flushed Obama out on the budget. If what were seeing about his speech this week is true, he is going to recommend a bunch of tax increases right as election season starts. I am confident Boehner won't push for tax increases, but it will be great to hear all the Democrats yammering for them prior to 2012.

Tell you what... you get yourself in debt at the same ratio that the republicrats have put all of us into and you go NEGOTIATE with the IRS using your brilliant negotiating skills and let us know how it turns out. While the republicans negotiated this WONDERFUL DEAL... the interest on our debt increased that debt by more than double the amount agreed to in the “deal”.

I don’t know who this guy is but, he makes no sense at all.

Talk about cutting odd your nose to spite your face.

We are talking about the 2011 budget which ENDS with in months.

People better save their ammo for the 2012 Budget, THAT is where the rubber meets the road.

We control the purse strings. Therefore, we should be able to play hardball and attain a lot more than what we did last week. I’m very disappointed in their performance last week. They’re a bunch of wimps.

It took 50 years to get where we are and this “loss” as you so ridiculously put it has set the precedent of reduced spending. From a proposed budget which was to have a 40 billion dollar INCREASE we have one which shows a 39 billion dollar reduction. My math skills tell me that is a swing of 80 billion dollars.

Your logic is the same as the sports fan who pisses and moans because his team scored 5 runs to win instead of scoring 55 and winning.

You are the typical all or nothing ideologue and your kind seldom ever wins because you continually overstep the boundaries. It is the fatal flaw of the Left and you seem to suffer from it yourself.

Reagan did carry his message to the people but Reagan was PRESIDENT, not the House leader or a Congressman. Do you not even know the difference here?

In your family budget, if you refuse to allow spending on anything, how will that go over with your wife?

"Like it or not, the Dems still control the White House and Senate. They are in a position to negotiate. The Republicans got about all they were going to get under the circumstances. Anyone who thought the GOP was going to steamroll to a complete victory was fooling themselves."

Exactly! The democrats and their friends in the media have been making much of the Republican "victory" last November. This accomplishes 2 things:

1. Republicans will get the blame for the ongoing disaster resulting from the legislation passed by the Democrats.
2. Those who were easily excited by the Republican "victory" will be easily disillusioned by reality, and will start blaming other republicans for not making Obama and his minions go away.

The reality is that the American people were incredibly stupid to turn the country over to the Democrats, and there is much work to be done to educate the idiots.
