You confuse libertarianism with freedom and God, libertarianism puts morality aside...that is their biggest mistake. Then, there are other issues as well that many libertarians are making...like their wanting to end the Fed, their misconception that we suffered from inflation the last few years...etc.
I realize that making alcohol against the law would not get to first base anymore...no matter how much damage, pain, and suffering it causes. I also do believe people have the right to harm themselves...but, the problem with alcohol is when we do harm because of it, we ALWAYS harm others as well.
I haven’t confused anything. You infer a kindred to the Sanhedrin. They were lovers of legalisms that put arbitrary limits on God.
God set this world into motion with man/woman in a perfect environment. Because of their faults, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. That is in the Bible, you know.
But, God provided a way, through FAITH, to be free of the law and sin. He gave us a choice. Believe in Him or die! With that simple faith in His ability to lift us out of that sinful life, He promised us help in the form of His indwelling Spirit. Without that help, we are doomed for eternity, for it is through that HELP, that we are able to overcome.
I revel in the liberty that He provides tom us, and may even include a little libation, or a “toke” on a joint. I’ve done both, but His spirit teaches that ANYTHING is good, but not all things are expedient. We have His Spirit to guide us into ALL truth... And I will trust Him to guide my life. Does that give complete liberty? Yes, but we must always remember not to cause others to “stumble”!
YMMV...
